A serious problem that the United States faces on a daily basis is Passport fraud. There are many people who try to enter the United States illegally, and while many are caught and turned back to their countries some people make it through. Usually when someone is caught and convicted for Passport fraud they are deported back to their country, and usually this means that they will not be allowed to ever exit the country legally.
Having a valid U.S. Passport is a privilege that U.S. citizens can and should take advantage of. Though many Americans don’t own a U.S. passport, it is estimated that approximately only one-third of American’s have valid US passports.
A valid U.S. passport can open many doors and create great opportunities. Traveling to a foreign country is a great experience that everyone should have. Usually if a parent has a passport for themselves they will most likely have passports for their children as well.
A great way to widen your family’s horizons is to obtain an adult passport for yourself and child passports for your kids and to take a family vacation to a foreign country. It is true that there are many attractions to visit in the U.S. that don’t require you to have a passport, but the experience of traveling to another country is like no other. Stepping out of one’s comfort zone and experiencing new places and cultures is definitely something that will enhance your view on the world you live in, having a U.S. passport makes all this possible.
Why not take the plunge and get passports for the whole family? Adult passports and child passports are made easy at Rush Passport™.

Did you know that 66% of Americans do not have a passport? For the 1/3 of Americans who do have passports, they can use their passports to travel around the world. However, passport holders must make sure to check the expiration date or they can be left scrambling to renew their passport. It is a good idea to make it a habit of checking your passport to make sure that it is not expired. A good tip would be to check your passport when you wake up in the morning on your birthday each year.
If you find out that your passport is set to expire within the next six months, then you can apply for passport renewal. Some countries will not allow you to use your passport if it has less than 6 months left on it before the passport expires. If your passport expires while overseas you will be allowed to travel back to the United States, but you probably will not be able to travel to any other countries. This may present problems using your passport to get home.
The standard time for passport renewal is between 4-6 weeks, however, if you contact the passport expediters at Rush Passport™, that time can be cut substantially.
Depending on your situation, you may even be able to get your passport in just a few hours. In most cases, you can have your passport in the same day.

There are millions of people who would do almost anything to be able to get a US passport. Meanwhile, there are millions of people who are eligible to get a US passport, but never do. Yet, there are others who have US passports and give them up.
Such is the case with Denise Rich, the wealthy socialite and ex-wife of billionaire trader Marc Rich. The reason that she has given up her US passport is to avoid paying taxes. Recently, others have followed this trend of renouncing their US citizenship and turning in their US passports. It seems that when they need the United States, they have no problem applying for a US passport. However, when it comes to paying taxes, these people have no problem giving up their US passports.
By getting rid of her US passport, Rich is projected to avoid paying tens of millions of dollars in US taxes.
Denise Rich, a song writer for Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige and Jessica Simpson joins the list of other wealthy people who recently gave up their US passports. In a previous Rush Passport™ blog entry, it was reported that Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin gave up his US passport and became a citizen of Singapore to avoid paying taxes before the company’s initial public offering in May of 2012.
Almost 2,000 US citizens gave up their passports in 2011.

Many people are trying to get a US passport, however, some people are giving them up. The latest person to give up his US passport is Eduardo Saverin. If that name doesn’t sound familiar to you then maybe you haven’t seen the film “The Social Network.” Saverin is better known as the billionaire co-founder of Facebook. It seems that Saverin needed his US passport desperately when he fled to the US as a teenager to escape the threat of kidnapping. However, now he has renounced his American citizenship and given up his US passport. Why would Saverin give up his US passport? It seems that Saverin gave up his US passport in order to avoid paying millions of dollars in taxes that he will stand to owe once Facebook goes public later this week.
Saverin was born in Brazilian and has actually lived in Singapore since 2009. Saverin joins a growing number of US citizens who have given up their citizenship and US passports to avoid paying taxes.
Saverin’s name appeared in a document published by the IRS that lists US citizens who have given up their passports.
Originally, Saverin’s wealth came from his father who was an industrialist who fled Brazil to Miami in 1993. The move came after his dad discovered that Eduardo’s name was on a list of potential targets in kidnap for ransom. At that point, Eduardo Saverin was granted US citizenship and issued a US passport at the age of 18.
If Saverin did not give up his passport, it is estimated that he would be liable for upwards of $600 million US dollars in capital gains taxes.

Celebrity passports are a big deal to some people. Would you be able to work for the US Department of State without taking a peek at some celebrity passports? It seems that a few ‘bad apples’ have given the US Dept of State a bad name. Of the thousands of employees that have access to the celebrity passport files, over the years 12 current or former employees have pled guilty to accessing celebrity passports.

Albert Einstein's Passport
It seems that the passport office employees who were caught snooping at the passport applications and passport photos did so out of boredom or plain curiosity.
Mark Carter, 51, of Brooklyn, NY is the latest passport employee to plead guilty to looking at the confidential passport files of 60 celebrities including athletes, politicians, musicians, actors and others.
The Passport Information Electronic Records System (PIERS) contains all imaged passport applications dating back to 1994.
Included in the PIERS database are passport photos, and personal information including applicant full name, birthdate, place of birth, address, telephone numbers and more.
The Privacy Act of 1974 protects this information as it is strictly limited to official government duties.
In March 2008, Dept of State passport employees were part of a scandal in which Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton’s passports were viewed for unauthorized purposes.
At Rush Passport™, all of your passport information is kept 100% confidential.

US Passports for Mexican nationals aren’t easy to come by – but Mexican passports are if you live in North Carolina. Approximately 400 Mexican nationals attended Concord High School’s Mexican Passport Event earlier this month. The 400 people were there to apply for Mexican passports and additional forms of Mexican identification.

Mexican nationals need valid passports to get back into Mexico once they return home. The matricula consular card can be used as a form of identification in the United States.
The passport event had a purpose – to ensure that Mexican citizens have proper identification from the Mexican government.
Just to clarify – no US Passports were issued at the event. The Mexican passports and government-issued picture IDs (matricula consular cards) were provided to passport applicants who supplied birth certificates and additional documentation.
Mexican nationals need valid passports to get back into Mexico once they return home. The matricula consular card can be used as a form of identification in the United States.
Many Mexican nationals cannot open up bank accounts because they do not have US Passports or other necessary forms of identification. However, people with both a matricula consular card and a Mexican passport can open up bank accounts.
The matricula card can also be used to provide proof of identity for such things as enrolling children in school or applying for credit. It is also enables Mexicans to obtain an individual tax identification number from the IRS so that they may pay US income tax.
Many of the Mexicans who attended the event needed to obtain a passport so that they could use them as identification during trips back to Mexico.
