lgbt-passportAs the 2012 holiday travel season approaches, it is important to be aware that the number of US Passport applications usually increases due to Thanksgiving and Christmas travel.  During this busy passport season, it could take several weeks more to get a passport if you go through the traditional methods.  Whether it is a first-time passport or a passport renewal, wait times are generally longer during this time.  This may present problems for people who must travel abroad and need to be sure to have their passports in time for travel.

If you need to travel on short notice and your passport is expired, your passport is lost or you have never had a passport before, it is important to know that you have other options.

One such option for passport applicants who need their passport in less than 10 weeks is to pay the US State Department additional expediting fees. This option should cut the wait time to approximately 4 weeks.

Another option, if you need to travel in the next 14 days or less, is to try scheduling an in person appointment at your local passport agency. Keep in mind that you will need to provide proof that you are traveling abroad in less than 14 days.

The third and possibly quickest option is to visit Rush Passport™.  At Rush Passport™ we are a passport expediting company with passport specialists that can assist travelers who need to travel abroad in the next 14 days or less.  We are conveniently located in the heart of Manhattan at 875 6th Avenue, Suite #1606, New York, NY 10001.

How Long Does it Take to Get a US Passport?:Rush Passport, Official Expediters of US Passports Makes Getting a US Passport Easy

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

passportDo you need a US passport?  Do you need a US passport now?  Do you have a passport emergency?  If you do not have a valid passport and you have travel plans within the next 14 days, then you may be eligible for an expedited passport.  If not, then the wait for a passport can be up to 8 weeks.

If you would like to know how long it takes to get a passport, the answer is not that simple.  There are many factors that come into play.  First, it depends on when, where and how the passport application is submitted.

Here are some factors that can affect the amount of time it takes for a person to get a passport:

  1. When the passport is applied for is a factor when it comes to determining how long it will take for a passport application to be filled.  To get a passport quickly, you may want to plan out the time of year in which you submit your passport application.  It should be noted that the busiest time of the year to submit a passport application is during summer months.  It may be a good idea to get a passport during off peak periods of the year.  But, when you need a passport right away, you can always apply for an expedited passportRush Passport™ can get you a same day passport as long as you have a travel itinerary stating that you will be departing within 2 weeks.
  2. Where a person submits the passport application can effect the passport turnover time.  If you are applying for a passport at the US passport office or through the USPS, it can take up to 3 months for a person to receive a US passport. However, if you require a passport immediately or are in the middle of  a passport emergency, you should visit Rush Passport™, Official Expediters of US Passports.
  3. How a person applies for a passport can effect the amount of time it takes for a person to get a passport.  The traditional way of submitting a passport application through the USPS or the US passport office can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months.  But, if you have a passport emergency or if you need to get your passport faster, you can utilize Rush Passport™ Passport Expediting Service and get your passport on the same day that you apply.

If you need a US passport card or other passport services such as an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book or passport photos be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Same Day Passport? Emergency Passport? Call Rush Passport Now! (877) 937-7277

US passportNeed a US Passport in a hurry?  Do you have a passport emergency?  Are you looking for a rush passport?  Do you need a same day passport?  You have two choices, go to the nearest US passport office or go to Rush Passport™, Official Passport Expeditors registered with the US Department of State and Foreign Consulates.  After reading a recent blog entry by Rick Hill written for San Antonio, Texas online news site blog.MySanAntonio.com – there is only one choice   – Rush Passport™.

His difficulties getting a passport are chronicled in a blog entry aptly titled “Passport to Hell”.  First, Mr. Hill commends the US Department of State on putting together easy to use passport applications that are self-explanatory.  Then he goes on to say that the passport fee structure is ‘straightforward.’

Mr. Hill’s quest began at a US Post Office that offered passport services.  Although the hours stated that the passport center was open from 8:00am – 4:00pm, after arriving at 8:20am he was told that they had fulfilled their day’s quote for passport applications for the day by 7:45 am.

Hill returned to the post office to get his passport four days later.  This time, he arrived at 7:35 am.  He was fourth in line for passport services.  At 8 am the passport center opened up and he sat in the passport office waiting room.  There were no magazines or televisions.  The only items for his viewing pleasure were the several signs reminding passport applicants not to fight or try to cut the line.  There were also some “diagrams on how to contain your cough.”

Forty minutes went by and nobody had even spoken to him yet about getting a passport.  Another hopeful passport applicant informed Mr. Hill that the passport center opened at 8:00am but not begin processing until 9:00am.

Here are some of the comments that Mr. Hill overheard from other passport hopefuls:

■“Why don’t they let you know online about the 25 passport limit?”

■“I didn’t know there would be so much drama just to get a piece a paper that allows you to leave the country.”

■“The way to go is to book an appointment at some locations but the one I checked had a 5 week wait.”

■“My neighbor was stuck here for 8 hours so I’ll do back-flips if I’m done by lunch.”

■ “I bet once they open they’ll be very efficient. It’s all they do so they should have it down to a science.”

Finally at 9:04 am, a passport clerk arrived and read the passport application rules. She let it be known that she would be the only one processing passport applications and that passport applicants would need to have all paperwork completed in advance.  She also told them that there were no public restrooms.

It took 16 minutes to process the first passport application.  That meant that the 25th person to walk in would have to wait over 6 hours.

Finally at 9:47 am Mr. Hill’s passport application was reviewed.  The passport application process was done at 10:02am.

Mr. Hill called this experience ‘Passport Hell’.  This was his experience in a small post office in San Antonio, Texas.  Now just imagine what the experience would be like at the passport center in New York City!

Take some advice, getting a passport shouldn’t be stressful.  Leave it to Rush Passport™, Official Passport Expeditors registered with the US Department of State and Foreign Consulates.

Rush Passport: Celebrity Passport Applications Revealed: Celebrity Passport 6 of 6

Celebrity Passport ApplicationIn a previous Rush Passport™ passport blog entry Olympian Jesse Owens’ passport application and passport photo were revealed.  Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the Department of State has given the public access to thousands of celebrity passport applications.

This passport blog entry features yet another celebrity passport application.  This famous American icon is most famous for his roles in films such as The Maltese Falcon, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The African Queen and most notable Casablanca.  This American actor / cultural icon is ranked by the American Film Institute as the greatest male star in the history of American cinema.  During a film career of nearly thirty years, he appeared in over75 feature films.

Born in New York City on Christmas Day in 1899, as shown on his passport application, this Hollwood actor traveled the globe making films.  His passport has stamps from Italy,  North Africa, London, and of course Casablanca.

While his passport application does not contain a passport photo, the 5’ 10-½ ” actor does note that he has a “scar under chin” and “scar under right eye.”  In his passport file is a request for an “Agency Series passport” dated November 1943, to expire in May, 1944, and “is not valid for travel in any country except North Africa.”

Unfortunately, this actor’s life was cut short due to illness at the age of 57, but his legacy lives on.

If you still don’t know who this famous American is, here’s your last hint: “Play it again, Sam…” For a larger look at his passport application, click on the image or just click here: zoom into passport application.

This passport blog entry features yet another celebrity passport application.  This famous American icon is most famous for his participation in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany where he won 4 gold medals: 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump, and as part of the 4×100 meter relay team (but unfortunately, his passport application shows no record of the trip, although it does say that his last passport was obtained on July 1, 1936).

Later in life, the US government appointed him as a US Goodwill Ambassador where he used his passport to travel the world.  Two postage stamps honor him and he received the Congressional Medal of Honor.

If you still don’t know who this famous American is, here’s your last hint: He was the first African American athlete to get sponsored by Adidas.  For a larger look at his passport application and passport photo, click on the photo or just click here: zoom into passport application.

Babe Ruth Celebrity Passport ApplicationIn a previous Rush Passport™ passport blog entry the obsession with celebrities was discussed.  Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the Department of State has given access to thousands of celebrity passport applications.

The celebrity passport application featured in this passport blog entry is none other than Babe Ruth.  The Yankee slugger, also known as the Sultan of Swat and the Bambino filled out his passport application for the purpose of “baseball playing” in Havana, Cuba.

Not only does Babe Ruth’s passport application list his travel plans, but also mentions the size of his mouth and chin and many other details about the slugger.

Besides mentioning that Babe Ruth was traveling with his wife Helen who was born in El Paso, Texas, it lists his current address as 674 W 161 Street, NY.  Ruth needed this passport to visit Havana, Cuba by way of Key West, Florida on October 27, 1920.

There is a section of the passport application titled “Description of Applicant” in which Ruth is listed as 27 years old, and standing 6 feet 1 ½ inches tall.  On the passport application the following features are listed: medium forehead, brown eyes, short nose, large mouth, round chin, dark brown hair, dark complexion, round face with no distinguishing marks.

The passport application is also signed by an identifying witness and an affidavit from a non-relative.

Ruth’s passport application also comes complete with a picture of Ruth and of his wife.

Passports for Mexicans?

Monday, September 27th, 2010

US Passports for Mexican nationals aren’t easy to come by – but Mexican passports are if you live in North Carolina.  Approximately 400 Mexican nationals attended Concord High School’s Mexican Passport Event earlier this month.  The 400 people were there to apply for Mexican passports and additional forms of Mexican identification.

Mexican Passport

Mexican nationals need valid passports to get back into Mexico once they return home. The matricula consular card can be used as a form of identification in the United States.

The passport event had a purpose – to ensure that Mexican citizens have proper identification from the Mexican government.

Just to clarify – no US Passports were issued at the event.  The Mexican passports and government-issued picture IDs (matricula consular cards) were provided to passport applicants who supplied birth certificates and additional documentation.

Mexican nationals need valid passports to get back into Mexico once they return home.  The matricula consular card can be used as a form of identification in the United States.

Many Mexican nationals cannot open up bank accounts because they do not have US Passports or other necessary forms of identification.  However, people with both a matricula consular card and a Mexican passport can open up bank accounts.

The matricula card can also be used to provide proof of identity for such things as enrolling children in school or applying for credit.  It is also enables Mexicans to obtain an individual tax identification number from the IRS so that they may pay US income tax.

Many of the Mexicans who attended the event needed to obtain a passport so that they could use them as identification during trips back to Mexico.

Passport Fee Cut in the Works for US and Canada

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Passports may be too expensive, evidenced by the decreased tourism between the United States and Canada.  There may be room for improvement should the two countries make it cheaper to get a passport.

Passport US Canada

An adult Canadian passport costs between $87 and $105 and an adult US Passport costs between $110 and $135. Keep in mind that Canadian passports are only valid for five years while US adult passports are valid for 10 years.

Provincial and state politicians have been talking about trying to convince Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama to cut passport fees in an effort to stimulate tourism.

An adult Canadian passport costs between $87 and $105 and an adult US Passport costs between $110 and $135.  Keep in mind that Canadian passports are only valid for five years while US adult passports are valid for 10 years.

Passport rates in Canada for children under the age of 15 range between $20 and $39 and children pay $105 for a US PassportPassports for children under 16 years of age in both countries are valid for only five years, with the exception of passports for Canadian children under three years old – which are valid for three years.

The Canadian government estimates that nearly 50% of Canadians have a passport.  The US Passport figures come out at somewhere between 25% and 30%.

While the economic recession is partly to blame for the decrease in tourism, some feel that new U.S. border passport requirements may also be at fault.  In January of 2007, the US began requiring passports for entry from Canada by air.  In June 2009 US Passports became required for land crossings between the US and Canada.

The U.S. began issuing cheaper passport cards in July 2008 that permitted Americans to re-enter the U.S. by land or sea. The passport cards cost much less at rates between $30 and $55 than traditional passports.

Statistics show that a paltry 2.7 million Americans, (less than 1% of the entire population, had applied for a passport card as of March 2010.)

I guess that I am within the top 1% of Americans as I proudly am a US Passport Card holder!   If you are interested in being in the top 1% of Americans who hold a US Passport Card or if you are interested in getting a standard issue US Passport Book, visit us at http://www.rushpassport.com or call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a Live Passport Agent.  (877) 937-7277 (All 50 States) or (212) 643-9305 New York Passport Agency / Passport Expediters.
