Get out your party hats, noisemakers and passports! The Department of State is celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2013 today March 9, 2013. Passport Day in the USA is a national passport acceptance and outreach event. Did you know that all United States citizens are required to present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. US citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry are required to present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the US government.
Passport Day in the USA is an outreach program to encourage US citizens to get their passports. Many Americans wait until the last minute to get their passports and sometimes do not get their passports in time. Sometimes, people do get their passports in time, but go through plenty of stress in the process. The US Department of State created Passport Day in the USA as a way to make it easier and more convenient for people to get their US passports. Several Americans take advantage of Passport Day in the USA to finally go get their passports.
If you are interested in celebrating Passport Day in the USA by getting a passport or visa, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Do you have a passport for that guitar? Maybe it’s a bit crazy to imagine a person bringing a piano onto a plane, but people sometimes do travel with their musical instruments. Each year guitars, violins, clarinets and saxophones find their way onto airplanes and into foreign countries. However, things may be changing. At a global biodiversity conference in Bangkok this week, there is a debate regarding a US proposal that would help to expedite international customs checks for travelers with certain musical instruments. The instruments in question are ones that legally contain endangered wildlife products such as exotic hardwoods, ivory or tortoise shell.
The purpose of this initiative is to make foreign travel easier by doing away with cumbersome import and export permits and replacing them with musical instrument passports. Many times legal instruments are confiscated because of confusion over what is and what is not allowed. To make things clearer, the US has proposed musicians be allowed to carry “musical instrument passports”. These musical instrument passports would be valid for three years and would help to expedite travel and eliminate problems.
As it turns out, violin bows are a major concern, especially because some of them are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Musicians are afraid to travel for fear that they will be wrongfully confiscated.
The passports would be voluntary and musicians could choose whether or not to get passports for their musical instruments.
If you are interested in getting a passport or visa for your musical instrument, you may have to wait. However if you are interested in getting a passport or visa for yourself, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

As a US citizen it is your right to get a US passport. Currently, the US would like to present an award for courage to a Tibetan author, but the activist will not able to travel to receive the award because is being denied her passport by Chinese authorities.
Tsering Woeser is one of 10 women named for the International Women’s Day honor in Washington DC. She has been documenting the efforts of Tibetans who have made the ultimate sacrifice by dousing themselves with kerosene and setting themselves on fire in protest against Beijing’s rule.
The U.S. State Department feels that Woeser’s website that exposes the atrocities has brought awareness to this terrible problem. This is the reason why Woeser has been recognized as a recipient of this prestigious award.
It is important to know that you live in a country where you can get a passport and are free to travel to many countries around the globe. Can you imagine if it were much more difficult for Americans to get passports to leave the country? As it is only 1/3 of Americans even have a US passport. It is somewhat curious that 2/3 of Americans still do not have their passports. Perhaps the right to get a US passport is something that some Americans take for granted.

US government regulations currently require all passengers, including infants and newborns that are traveling internationally to have a valid U.S. Passport to enter the U.S. If you don’t know where to get a passport, the U.S. government offers two types of passport processing: routine passport services and expedited passport service.
Those who choose routine passport service may typically receive their new passport within 6 – 8 weeks after submitting their passport application. Of course the passport processing times can vary according to the time of year, a passport agencies workload increases during busy travel seasons, and can therefore delay the time in which a passport would be issued.
This slower process doesn’t really work for someone who needs to travel unexpectedly and needs to leave the country quickly. For travelers seeking to get a passport quickly, the U.S. government also offers expedited passport service. Expedited passport services usually ensure that you receive your new passport in 3 weeks. Three weeks can also be a long time to wait if you have an emergency and need to travel sooner than that.
There is a third option that can help travelers receive their U.S. passport much quicker. People looking to travel on short notice can go through a passport expeditor. Travelers just have to ensure that the passport expeditor is registered to conduct business with the U.S. Department of State as well as work with the U.S. Passport Agency and foreign embassies. Rush Passport is a passport agency in New York City, which is the nation’s leader for U.S. passport and foreign Visa Expediting.
If you are interested in getting a passport or visa, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
