Passport Questions Answered: Rush Passport

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

passportYahoo! Answers specializes in having regular people ask questions in the hopes that other regular people will be able to answer them.  Some of the questions are silly and others are serious.  A recent visit to the site uncovered several questions regarding passports.  Among the questions regarding passports involved a woman getting married this year and wanted to know if she can travel using her married name although her maiden name in on her passport.  Another person wondered if a driver’s permit is an acceptable form of proof to get a passport.  Yet another person wanted to know the process for getting a child passport in India.

The passport process can be confusing.  There are many questions that can come up regarding passport regulations and passport usage.

Another person wants to know if it is possible to change a passport before it expires.  An individual who recently lost a lot of weight is concerned that he doesn’t look like the person in his passport photo and wonders if he will be required to get a new passport in order to travel without being detained.  Many other questions arise about changing a surname on a passport, adding passport pages, taking passport photos, passport renewal and a slew of other passport based inquiries.  If you have any passport questions, we recommend you speak with a passport specialist.  Our passport agents can help answer your questions and also help you get a same day passport.

If you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Passport Day in the USA Proves to Be a Success for Passport Applicants: Rush Passport Blog

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

US passport renewalIt seems that the government shutdown was averted – at least for now.  Passport Day in the USA went off without a hitch as plenty of US citizens successfully applied for their passports.  Citizens looking to apply for a passport were unsure if Passport Day in the USA was even going to happen.  The government shutdown would have affected many government agencies including the US Department of State which handles passport applications.  The shutdown would have meant that Passport Day in the USA would have been cancelled.  That would’ve meant that people who had been planning to take advantage of passport services would have had to make alternate plans.

So, US citizens looking to get a new passport, renew an existing passport, replace a lost passport or add passport pages were all able to do so on Saturday April 9th .  Passport Day in the USA was started two years ago to assist people who had a hard time getting to the passport agency during the week.  However, if you are in need of a passport and you missed Passport Day in the USA, don’t worry.  Rush Passport™ offers their own version of Passport Day in the USA as they are open for business each and every Saturday.  That’s right, Rush Passport™ offers passport services every Saturday throughout the year.

If you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. You can visit us at http://www.rushpassport.com or call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a Live Passport Agent. Passport Day in the USA or Government Shutdown? What Will Happen to Those in Need of a Passport?

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

Passport Day in the USAAre you planning to travel abroad and do you need a new passport or do you need to renew your existing passport?

Saturday, April 9th is the scheduled to be the 3rd Annual Passport Day in the USA.  However, there is a small problem.  Friday April 8th a major government shutdown is scheduled.  Will the government shutdown rain on your passport parade?  Or will Passport Day in the USA go on as planned?

Passport Day in the USA is designed to facilitate people who need to get a passport, but work Monday through Friday.  US citizens who need to get new passports, add extra pages to a passport, get a passport card, renew your passport – you name it – Passport Day in the USA can help.

However, if the government shuts down due to budget issues, then Passport Day in the USA may be cancelled.

Approximately 30% of US citizens currently have a valid passport.  Passport Day in the USA was aiming to improve those numbers.  We will see how it all turns out on Friday, April 8th.  Here at Rush Passport™ we’re hoping that Passport Day in the USA goes off without a hitch.

If you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. September 2, 2010:
Monday morning, four days prior to leaving for Costa Rica, I checked my passport and noticed that it expired January of this year. Although I travel frequently, it’s within the US., using my state license photo ID, not my passport. Government agencies could not help, giving me an appointment after my scheduled return.

Enter Rush Passport. Sofia, a member of the small, professional staff explained my alternatives and guided me every step of the way. Sofia, and the rest of the staff made what was a very difficult situation, disappear.

Sofia called early Wednesday to say my passport was ready, earlier then expected. I highly recommend this very professional organization.

Excellent Service, very fast turnaround
August 24th, 2010: I needed pages added to my passport for a foreign visa, brought my passport in on a Wednesday, picked it up on friday- even earlier than promised. I was assisted by Sarah, who was very helpful, and had me through the paperwork in a few minutes. Would definitely recommend them for any urgent passport services.

Excellent Agency!!!
August 23rd, 2010: I cant believe a company this great really exists!!! I was leaving for Canada on a tues. I never had a passport before and just realized the previous friday that I needed one to travel to Canada. I didnt think there was any way I would be able to obtain a passport in 3 days but I decided to go online and search anyways. Rush Passport came up. I thought it was too good to be true, but the company is 100% legitimate. I went in on Sat morning and filled out all the paperwork with Damila, who was extremely friendly and helpful. By Monday evening, I had the passport in my hands. I really couldnt believe that I was able to get one that quickly!! This company is amazing!!!!

Really fast passport turnaround
August 22nd, 2010:
This company is amazing. The owner returned my call at 12:30 at night, told me what to bring to the office, and by 5 PM the next day I had a new passport.  Definitely get there early. I showed up at 7 AM (they open at 730) and was just barely second in line. By 730, the line was about 10 people long.

Passport Pages Fee Starts July 13th – Frequent Travelers Should Add Extra Pages Now to Avoid $82 Fee.

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Passport rate hikes are almost here.  Not only will the rates for new passport increase on July 13th, but frequent travelers will also feel the wrath of the passport rate increases.  Currently there is no cost for adding additional pages to your passport, but starting July 13th it will cost $82 to add passport pages

Passport increases have occurred in the past, but for the first time, this rate increase includes adding blank passport pages to an existing passport.

Additional Passport Pages

Add Passport Pages Before July 13th to Avoid New $82 Fee!

If you travel frequently, it is suggested that you have your passport sent into the US Department of State before July 13 to avoid the $82 fee and have additional passport pages added.

You will still be eligible for the larger passport totaling 52 pages at no extra cost when you get a new passport or renew your passport.

Most people feel that the passport rate increase is excessive.  The cost is going up from $100 to $135 for new adult passports.  Since passports are valid for 10 years, I don’t think that thirteen dollars and fifty cents per year is excessive.  When considering that passports are valid for a decade, the rates don’t seem so outrageous.

I pay more than $135 each month for several goods and services including cable television, cellular phone service, auto insurance and gasoline.  One fancy dinner, 2 tickets to a Broadway show, or a day at a sporting event all cost more than $135 – and that’s just for one night – while a passport is good for 10 years!

If you’re still not convinced that the passport increase isn’t such a great deal after all, then do something about it – take care of all of your passport needs before July 13th

If you are interested in adding additional pages to your passport, getting a US Passport or US Passport Card or any other passport services before the rate increase, visit us at http://www.rushpassport.com or call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a Live Agent.  (877) 937-7277 (All 50 States) or (212) 643-9305 New York Agency.

Have a Passport? Need a Job? Alicia Keys is Hiring!

Passport

Do You Have Your Passport Yet?

Alicia Keys needs a blogger.  Among the requirements of the job … a valid passport!  If that job doesn’t sound appealing, maybe you can try some other jobs for which a passport is generally required:

Peace Corps Volunteer

While the work of a volunteer can be extremely rewarding, it can also be dangerous.  Before you run out and get your passport, keep in mind that you may have to wait over a year for approval.  Once accepted, volunteers go to foreign countries where they fulfill a two year commitment.  Depending on your timing, you may have some say in the country and area of volunteer work.   Not only is a passport required, but so is a college degree.

Foreign Correspondent

While reporters are sometimes based in the United States, a journalist should be ready to travel.   For this reason, a passport is a must!  In some cases, journalists travel to a country, report on a story and come back home.  In other cases, reporters live abroad.  While a passport will help, potential applicants should also have a solid educational background and previous journalism experience.

Rock Star

Without a passport, rock stars would just have to stay local.  Can you imagine the Rolling Stones World Tour beginning in New Jersey and ending in Pennsylvania?  Not too impressive.  It’s not only rock stars who would reap the benefits of having passports, but actors, musicians and dancers all stand to expand their horizons by getting one of those little blue books.  While I’m sure it’s been done before, (Sarah Palin didn’t get her passport until 2006) it’s kind of hard to be ‘world famous’ without a passport.  Maybe you don’t want to be a famous rockstar, but think about it – even groupies and roadies need passports!

Ambassador

Maybe you’re great at settling disuptes between friends.  Why not become an ambassador?  Sound like a great idea?  First, you’ll need a passport.  Then it may be a good idea to speak another language… and another small thing - you must also be willing to represent the views of the United States.   (You may have to order the apple pie over the crème brulée and choose to dip your french fries in ketchup instead of mustard, but the perks may be worth it.  Besides, crème brulée literally means burnt cream… yuk!)  In addition to the passport, applicants must undergo a rigorous selection process, background checks and a comprehensive exam before becoming an ambassador.   Candidates are generally well-educated holding political science or foreign relations degrees from top universities.

Fashion Model

So, maybe you’re not the volunteering type, maybe you stink at Guitar Hero, couldn’t act your way out of a paper bag and can barely pull a C+ in a community college.  There is still hope for you… you become a model!  First, you’ll need a passport!  Then you’ll need to be incredible good looking with either a killer smile or an exaggerated pout.  As a model you can travel all over the world, getting that passport stamped repeatedly from Milan to Fiji and back again so many times you’ll surely need to add pages about a dozen times!  While the modeling field may be difficult to break into, the rewards are plentiful!

If you are not suited for any of these suggestions, give up on the passport idea altogether and try your hand at becoming a politician.
