Do you need a US passport? Are you thinking about making a visit to the New York City passport office to get your US passport? Well, believe it or not, some people actually get rid of their US passports. The latest celebrity to get rid of her US passport is in Switzerland. The mayor of Zurich traveled to the US Embassy in Bern, Switzerland to give up her US citizenship. At the embassy, they punched holes in her US passport and she renounced her US citizenship.
The Swiss mayor who gave up her US passport is 52 year old Corinne Mauch, who was born in Iowa City, Iowa. She lived in the Midwest for her early years and has lived in Switzerland for over 30 years. Mauch has been mayor of Zurich sinch 2009 and was elected after spending a decade serving on the city council.
Mauch’s office states that she did not give up her US citizenship for tax reasons but also mentioned that “she won’t miss the bureaucracy of the IRS, the American tax office.”
Rather than deal with the IRS paperwork, Mauch renounced her US citizenship and destroyed her US passport.
If you are interested in renouncing your US citizenship, don’t call us. But if you are interested in getting a US passport, contact the passport specialists at Rush Passport™.

Do you have a US passport? Are you interested in applying for a passport? Besides a passport photo and payment of the required passport fees, there is something else that you need. If you are thinking identification, you are right.
It seems like a no brainer that when you apply for a US passport you must show identification. A Broward County, Florida man recently showed identification when he applied for his US passport, but he got arrested. Can you guess the reason why he got arrested for showing identification when he applied for the passport? Yes, he showed identification, but it wasn’t his identification. It was his son’s identification. The man used his son’s identity to apply for the passport in order to flee the country to avoid being arrested for a crime that he allegedly committed in 1987. He pled guilty to passport fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Falsifying passport records is a federal offense that carries a minimum two year sentence in federal prison. Passport fraud is a potentially dangerous crime that allows criminals to escape prosecution. Passport fraud is a concern in every country that issues passports. Lost passports can be used to perpetrate passport fraud and passports can be stolen for the purpose of fraud. As a precaution, it is a great idea to always keep a photo copy of your passport so that you can show that passport copy to the consulate to expedite the return of your passport and your ability to travel abroad.

US government regulations currently require all passengers, including infants and newborns that are traveling internationally to have a valid U.S. Passport to enter the U.S. If you don’t know where to get a passport, the U.S. government offers two types of passport processing: routine passport services and expedited passport service.
Those who choose routine passport service may typically receive their new passport within 6 – 8 weeks after submitting their passport application. Of course the passport processing times can vary according to the time of year, a passport agencies workload increases during busy travel seasons, and can therefore delay the time in which a passport would be issued.
This slower process doesn’t really work for someone who needs to travel unexpectedly and needs to leave the country quickly. For travelers seeking to get a passport quickly, the U.S. government also offers expedited passport service. Expedited passport services usually ensure that you receive your new passport in 3 weeks. Three weeks can also be a long time to wait if you have an emergency and need to travel sooner than that.
There is a third option that can help travelers receive their U.S. passport much quicker. People looking to travel on short notice can go through a passport expeditor. Travelers just have to ensure that the passport expeditor is registered to conduct business with the U.S. Department of State as well as work with the U.S. Passport Agency and foreign embassies. Rush Passport is a passport agency in New York City, which is the nation’s leader for U.S. passport and foreign Visa Expediting.

During this very busy passport season, it could take you up to 10 weeks to get a passport; it doesn’t matter if it’s your first time passport or a passport renewal. Generally speaking this might not be a problem for the average traveler planning to travel in the summer 10 weeks seems like sufficient time to receive a new U.S. Passport.
However some people don’t have the luxury of waiting that long. What if you need to travel on short notice and you have an expired passport or your passport was lost/ stolen. Luckily you have options that can help you get that passport much quicker.
One option for a traveler, who needs a passport in less than 10 weeks, can choose to pay the U.S. Department an additional fee as well as overnight delivery fees in order to receive their passport quicker.
