It’s time to get your paperwork together in order to take advantage of Passport Day in the USA 2012. In one week from tomorrow, on Saturday, March 10th, 2012, the US Department of State is set to host the 4th annual “Passport Day in the USA” event. The purpose of this passport event is to give US citizens an opportunity to apply for passport books or passport cards on a Saturday. Although the US Department of State does not normally process passports on Saturdays and their agencies are not open, Rush Passport™’s New York City passport agency is always open on Saturdays. ”Passport Day in the USA” gives people who could not go to the passport agency during the week an opportunity to get a passport on the weekend.
It is important to know that you will need proof of birth. In addition, those applying for a first-time passport will need to appear in person. Many people don’t know that in 2009 legislation was put into effect that requires US citizens to provide a passport for travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
In addition to being used as official travel documents, passports also serve as documents to prove one’s identity. Rush Passport™’s New York Passport Agency in Manhattan, at 875 6th Avenue, Suite #1606 will be accepting passport applications and passport renewals on March 10th and all other days Monday – Saturday. Our passport photo services will also be available.
If you are a first-time adult passport applicant, need a child passport, need to renew a passport, or would like to apply for a passport card, Rush Passport™ is the passport agency in New York City to get your passport and handle all of your passport and visa needs.
If you have questions about getting a visa, a passport, an expedited passport, emergency passport, passport renewal, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Passport fraud is a serious problem in the United States. Many people try to get into the US illegally and some people make it. Generally, people convicted of passport fraud get deported. Ten years ago, Jacqueline Brown was convicted of passport fraud and she was scheduled to be deported back to Jamaica. However, Ms. Brown was able to stay in the United States under various aliases.
Ms. Brown recently had her cover blown while working as a teacher’s assistant in a school in Connecticut under the name “Ann Scott”. Ms. Brown is in now in federal custody awaiting deportation for passport fraud.
Getting a valid US passport is a privilege that US citizens can take advantage of. However, approximately two-thirds of Americans don’t own passports.
A passport can open up many doors in a person’s life. Traveling to a foreign country is something that everyone should experience. It is most likely true that children whose parents have passports are more likely to get passports themselves.
Parents should get adult passports for themselves and child passports for their children and take a family vacation to a foreign country to widen their horizons. While there are plenty of attractions in the US that don’t require a passport to visit, one’s options should be open to many possibilities. Passports make those opportunities possible.
If you have questions about getting a visa, a passport, an expedited passport, emergency passport, passport renewal, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. It is reported that a family from Denver, Colorado is supposed to be on vacation in Belize this week, but instead they are in a hotel room in Dallas, Texas. The family of three, with passports in hand, checked into Denver International Airport. All three of them had boarding passes in hand and were waiting for the flight.
However, they never made it to Belize, because an American Airlines official claimed that their son’s passport was mutilated. The parents, Kyle and Dana Gosnell, say that the passport is not mutilated, but that it has a small crease on the back cover. The father claims that he accidentally sat on the passport which caused the crease. The airline official felt that the passport was too damaged to allow the son to board the plane.
The father’s passport was questioned because of a crease, but was not denied. However, his son’s passport was considered to be mutilated and they were not permitted to travel.
If your passport is damaged, it is best to have a passport specialist check it out to see if it will be valid for travel. If the passport needs to be replaced, it is a good idea to do that as soon as possible so that you will not end up like the Gosnell family.
It is possible that the passport was unable to be scanned because of the location of the crease. Either way, the airline has the right to refuse a traveler if their passport is not be able to be scanned.
The family hopes to receive a replacement passport so that they can travel to Belize next week.
Don’t let this happen to you. If your passport is mutilated or damaged, contact Rush Passport™.

When should I sign my passport? How should I sign my passport?
You should sign your passport upon receiving it. It is recommended that you sign the passport in ink. The signature should be consistent with the way that you signed your passport application and the same way that appears on your other forms of identification. It is advisable to fill out the emergency section in pencil because the adult passport is good for a period of 10 years and this information may change in the future.
How much does a US passport cost?
The cost of a US passport depends on the type of passport and how quickly you need it. For a first time adult passport book, the government fee is $110 +$25. For a first time adult passport card the government fees come to $30 +$25. For an first time adult passport book and passport card together the government fee is $140 +$25. It is important to know that all first time passport applicants must appear in person.
If you require an adult passport renewal, the government fee for a passport book is $110, adult passport card $30 and for both the passport book and card the total is $140.
The government fee for a minor passport book is $80+$25. The fees for a minor passport card are $15 + $25. The government fees for a minor passport book and card are $95 + $25.
If you need a passport for official travel you may need to apply for a diplomatic, official or regular no-fee passport. In this case, you would be able to receive a no-fee passport from The Special Issuance Agency, located in Washington, DC. The no-fee passports may apply to the person traveling and in some cases their dependents.

More and more Chinese tourists are traveling abroad. Many Chinese tourists choose to use their passports to visit the United States, but others are traveling elsewhere due to visa regulations. More and more countries are competing for the Chinese tourism and are trying to simplify their visa regulations.
Recently, President Barack Obama vowed to make the procedures in China for non-immigrant visas more efficient. Travel services are looking to cash in on the recent Chinese tourism surge. Having a passport alone is not enough to travel. Many countries require visas and the visa process can be tough. Chinese passport holders may have to wait several weeks and sometimes even several months to receive visas to travel to the United States.
Some experts predict that the number of Chinese passport holders requiring visas for travel to the US will double in 2012.
While the United States is considered to be the #1 ”dream destination” for Chinese citizens according to research by the US Travel Association. more Chinese tourists are visiting France. It is supposed that the main reason for this is due to the US visa system.
Countries that have made their visa process simpler for Chinese citizens have experienced greater numbers of Chinese travelers.
The US visa system for Chinese visitors can be made simpler. For starters, the Chinese visa applications are printed in English. If they were translated, it would make the process easier. Also, the fact that every visa applicant is required to be personally interviewed lengthens and complicates the visa application process.
Visa applicants generally have to wait 2 to 3 months just to get an interview. Once they are scheduled for the interview, visa applicants generally have to wait in line for a full day just to speak with someone. After the long wait, the actual interview takes less than 3 minutes.
Right off the bat, this eliminates the United States as a destination for travelers who can’t wait 3 months for an interview.
The next passport blog will deal with ways that the US can make the visa process better for Chinese passport holders.

A recent article in Reuters mentions a recent phenomenon that is going on in St. Kitts. While sugarcane has long been one of its biggest economic resource, now St. Kitts is selling a much sweeter commodity: its citizenship. Want to buy a passport from a country that you have no ties to at all?
If you would like to get St. Kitts citizenship, a foreigner can purchase full citizenship for a mere $250,000. The citizenship transaction reportedly takes as little as 3 months and you don’t even have to get your passport stamped. To become a citizen you don’t even have to visit St. Kitts at all.
So, why is there such big demand to have citizenship in St. Kitts? For starters, travelers with a US passport need visas to travel to many countries around the world. Citizens of St. Kitts can travel without a visa to over one hundred countries. A St. Kitts passport is all you need to travel to Canada and to every country in all of Europe.
If the St. Kitts passport is not enticing enough because of the diminished visa restrictions, then how about the ability to pay no personal income taxes? That’s right, St. Kitts passport will grant you the right to pay no personal income taxes.
If this is still not enough to entice you, having a St. Kitts passport can also serve as a safe haven if the need for a quick move should ever arise.
St. Kitts is basically instituting the policy of “a passport – for a price”.
To make the deal seem more legit, the St. Kitts passport payment of $250,000 actually goes to the country’s Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation.
The United States, Canada, England and New Zealand have programs to entice wealthy travelers. Investors or large amounts of money are often offered immigrant visas. While the programs don’t automatically guarantee passports, the visas provide a fast-track to naturalization and can also expedite citizenship.
People can not only obtain second passports, but sometimes third passports.

Do you know how much US citizenship is worth? While priceless to some, there are some US citizens who would like to renounce their US citizenship. The cost is $450.
Recently, new consular fees were published in the Federal Register. One of the fees that went up was the fee for processing the formal renunciation of US citizenship. Prior to the new fees, there was no cost affiliated with renouncing one’s US citizenship. Now, the fee is $450.
There is no cost for US citizenship when it comes to people born in the United States. However to renounce the citizenship, the price is $450.
In addition to the fee increase for renouncing one’s US citizenship, the passport application fee is also going to increase.
The cost of a passport application is increasing from $55 to $70 with an increase of $20 to $40 for a passport security surcharge.
There is also an increase to adding new passport pages. It used to be free to add more pages to your passport. Now, the US Department of State will now charge $82. The cost is supposed to be to offset the time that it takes time to print and affix the additional pages into the passport book, passport endorsement and quality control.
The cost to register the overseas birth of an American child is going up from $65 to $100.
In addition, the cost of getting a document notarized at a US embassy abroad is also set to increase. In the past, the fee was $30 per page and it will go up to $50 per page.
