Current US government regulations require all international airline passengers regardless of age to hold a valid US passport. This passport regulation includes all infants and even newborns that are traveling internationally. Currently, the U.S. government offers two types of passport processing: routine passport services and expedited passport service.
According to the US Department of State website, passport applicants who choose routine passport service can expect to receive their new passports within 6 – 8 weeks after submitting their passport applications. It is important to understand that passport processing times may vary depending on the year that the passport application is submitted. There are busy travel seasons and passport applicants may experience delays of up to 3 months.
If you need to travel abroad unexpectedly, the traditional passport application process mentioned above would not be a viable option. For travelers who need to get a passport quickly, the U.S. government offers expedited passport service. The expedited passport services offered by the government generally allow you to receive your new passport in approximately 3 weeks. Three weeks may be sufficient, but what if you need to travel sooner than that or if you want to be 100% sure that you get your passport in time?
For passport applicants who want to be 100% sure to get their passports in time for their trips, there is a third option. US passport applicants who need to travel on short notice of less than 14 days can get their passports through a passport expeditor. Passport applicants should verify that the passport expeditor is registered to conduct business with the US Department of State as well as work with the US Passport Agency and foreign embassies. Rush Passport™ is a New York City based passport agency and is the nation’s leader for U.S. passport and foreign Visa Expediting.
If you are interested in getting a child passport, adult passport or visa, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Do you live in New York City? If you were born and raised in New York City, then there is one thing that you’ll never experience – being a tourist in New York City. Tourists from around the world use their passports to travel to New York City, the Capital of the World.
Even as a New Yorker, there are still many places on the planet that would be wonderful to visit as a tourist. Why not get out and see some of the world’s other big cities or better yet, check out some places that are nothing like New York.
Getting a passport is the first step in seeing the world. The next step is buying the plane ticket. However, sometimes people get these steps mixed up and buy the plane tickets first and try to get the passport later.
This can present a problem if you don’t get your passport in time. Others have the passport, buy the plane tickets and then find out that the passport is expired – or worse than that missing.
If you need a new passport, if your passport is expired or missing and you need a passport renewal, you can wait 6-8 weeks for the US Department of State to get you your passport. Or you can contact Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors and get your passport today. Our New York City passport office is located in the heart of Manhattan at 875 6th Avenue, Suite #1606, New York, NY 10001.
If you are interested in getting a child passport, adult passport or visa, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Some people are photogenic and others look better in person. However, most people are self-conscious about the way they appear in photographs. Passport photos are no exception. Many people don’t like the way they look in their passports – with good reason. The problem with passport photos is that they require a neutral expression. For some people it is hard not to smile in a photograph. For others, a neutral expression is simpler to achieve.
According to a study at Glasgow University, when a person tries to give a neutral expression for a passport photo, it actually makes them less recognizable and can even distort their facial features.
Biometric passports contain data including facial information. There are certain measurements that are used in passports to identify the person in the photo. For example, passport photos contain biometric data that measures the distance between the eyes and nose. There are other measurements that are contained in the passport photo data to help identify the passport holder.
The purpose of the biometric data is to assist border patrol in recognizing the passport holder, but the Glasgow University study hints that the passport technology can use an upgrade. Biometric passport data will surely improve over the next few years and the improvements will be seen in the latest US passports that are issued.

Do you need a US passport? Applying for a US passport can be confusing. At Rush Passport™ we make getting a passport easy. US citizens can apply for a first time passport or passport renewal at our NY passport agency. There are certainly situations in which getting a passport is not so easy.
When a person is not a US citizen, they must first become a citizen before they can receive a passport. One complicated situation occurs when a child applies for citizenship through a parent. This is known as derivative citizenship. In this case, citizenship through a parent is generally granted automatically. However, derivative citizens usually want proof of citizenship. Two commons forms of proof of citizenship are US passports or Certificates of Citizenship.
There are two sets of rules that apply to derivative citizenship. There is one set of rules for children who are not yet 18 years of age as of February 27, 2001. There is another set of rules for people who have already turned 18 years old as of February 27, 2001.
For children who are not 18 years old as of February 27, 2001, holds derivative US citizenship if:
- A parent was a United States citizen when the child became a permanent resident or when the parent was naturalized prior to the child’s 18th birthday.
- The child became a permanent resident prior to turning 18 years old.
- The child was single (unmarried).
A person who was already 18 years old or older as of February 27, 2001 holds derivative US citizenship upon the naturalization of a parent if:
- The other parent was or became a US citizen prior to the child turning 18 years of age.
- The child was born to unmarried parents and the naturalized parent was the mother.
- The child’s other parent was no longer alive.
The child’s parents were divorced or separated and the parent being naturalized maintained legal custody of the child after the divorce/separation.
After reading this passport blog, if you feel convinced that you are a derivative US citizen then you should get a passport to prove citizenship.
Getting a US passport is less expensive than getting a Certificate of Citizenship. Also, passport officials are less difficult to deal with than the US Citizenship and Immigration Services when it comes to deciding whether a person derived US citizenship.
If you are interested in getting a US passport, if you need a visa or if you would like a US passport card, contact the passport professionals at Rush Passport™. Rush Passport™ New York City passport office specializes in passport expediting services.

If you have plans to travel abroad this year, you will need a US Passport. Even if you are planning to travel to Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean you will still need to get a passport or a passport card. There is a special event, Passport Day in the USA, being held on Saturday March 10, 2012. Passport Day in the USA is a nationwide event in which you can find out more about the passport application process and apply for a passport. What makes this event unique is that Government passport facilities are generally not open on Saturdays. This passport event gives people who cannot get to a passport application center during the week the opportunity to visit on a Saturday. Rush Passport™‘s New York City passport agency is open Saturday, March 10th as well as all other Saturdays during the entire year. People interested in applying for a passport can always come to Rush Passport™ on Saturdays, 52 weeks out of the year.
According to the Western Passport Center, “U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.”

Pitbull is one of the hottest music stars of 2011 and into 2012. Pitbull’s album “Planet Pit” is named for his globe-trotting music tours and many of the tracks in the album pay homage to world travel. One of the most popular songs off the album is named “International Love” and the lyrics mention trips to US cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Miami and foreign countries such as Romania, Lebanon and Greece. In the song, Pitbull brags about using his passport to visit “countries and cities that (he) can’t pronounce.” He also says that in the Domincan Republic (DR) “they looking for visa’s I Ain’t taking credit cards if you know what I mean!”
In the song “Across the World”, Pitbull sings “For just singing a song now my passports full I’m outta pages – new places, new faces, new fans, all ages!” Pitbull, if your passport is really full, come visit Rush Passport™ and we’ll help you get some new pages so that you can do some more traveling.
Lyrics to “She’s Hotter” boast “what else can you ask for, international playa buddy, just take the passports anytime anyplace anywhere we don’t care.”
A mix-tape by DJ Noodles and Pitbull is actually named “Passport International Takeover The United Nations.”
2011 has been a year of travel for Pitbull and if 2012 is to be another year of traveling the globe, it looks like Pitbull is going to need some more passport pages!

Lost Passport? Stolen Passport?
Passport lost? Is your passport lost or has your passport been stolen? As you know, your US passport is a very important document that must be protected. However, it is possible to lose your passport or have your passport stolen if you are not careful. If your passport has been lost or stolen, then you should take action as quickly as possible.
If you have lost your passport and you are overseas, you must contact the nearest US Embassy as soon as possible. The embassy will supply you with instructions on how to replace the missing passport.
However, if you are in the US, and you have lost your US passport, you must contact the US Dept of State at 1-877-487-2778 to invalidate your passport. Remember that once your passport has been reported missing, it cannot be revalidated. A new passport must be issued.
If you have a passport emergency and need your passport for travel within the next 14 days, then you may apply for an expedited passport. You will need to present proof of citizenship, identification, 2 passport photos and you must fill out the passport application and pay the passport fees.
Did you know that you can get a same day passport if needed? Some people just assume that they must cancel their travel plans, but you may be eligible for a same day passport as long as your trip is within 14 days. You will need to provide proof of pending travel to qualify for an expedited passport.
If you need a US passport card or other passport services such as an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book or passport photos be sure to contact Rush Passport™.
