Visa Regulations from China to the US: Rush Passport NYC

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

More and more Chinese tourists are traveling abroad.  Many Chinese tourists choose to use their passports to visit the United States, but others are traveling elsewhere due to visa regulations.  More and more countries are competing for the Chinese tourism and are trying to simplify their visa regulations.

Recently, President Barack Obama vowed to make the procedures in China for non-immigrant visas more efficient.  Travel services are looking to cash in on the recent Chinese tourism surge.  Having a passport alone is not enough to travel.  Many countries require visas and the visa process can be tough.  Chinese passport holders may have to wait several weeks and sometimes even several months to receive visas to travel to the United States.

Some experts predict that the number of Chinese passport holders requiring visas for travel to the US will double in 2012.

While the United States is considered to be the #1 ”dream destination” for Chinese citizens according to research by the US Travel Association. more Chinese tourists are visiting France.  It is supposed that the main reason for this is due to the US visa system.

Countries that have made their visa process simpler for Chinese citizens have experienced greater numbers of Chinese travelers.

The US visa system for Chinese visitors can be made simpler.  For starters, the Chinese visa applications are printed in English.  If they were translated, it would make the process easier.  Also, the fact that every visa applicant is required to be personally interviewed lengthens and complicates the visa application process.

Visa applicants generally have to wait 2 to 3 months just to get an interview.  Once they are scheduled for the interview, visa applicants generally have to wait in line for a full day just to speak with someone.  After the long wait, the actual interview takes less than 3 minutes.

Right off the bat, this eliminates the United States as a destination for travelers who can’t wait 3 months for an interview.

The next passport blog will deal with ways that the US can make the visa process better for Chinese passport holders.

How to Get a US Passport in New York: Rush Passport

Monday, December 12th, 2011

How do you get a US passport in New York?  Passport applicants who wish to get a passport for the first time need to appear in person. In order to get a passport, passport applicants must satisfy all of the passport requirements.  First time passport applicants need to produce original or certified copies of their birth certificates.  A previous US passport is also acceptable.  When it comes to children 15 years of age or younger who wish to get a US passport, an original or certified birth certificate that indicates the full names of both parents must be submitted.

What are the requirements for US passport renewal?  Passport renewal is easier than applying for a first time passport.  Passport renewal applicants need to submit the expired passport.  Passport applicants from ages 16 to 18 years of age may appear with only one parent.  If the passport applicant has a valid, permanent driver’s license, then parental consent is unnecessary.  Children ages 15 and under need to have both parents in attendance at the time that the passport application is completed.  If only one parent is available, proof that indicates that the applying parent has consent to apply for the passport must be submitted.

What are the acceptable forms of identification when applying for a US passport?  Examples of proper identification to get a valid US passport include driver’s license, government employee identification card or previous US passport that is less than 15 years old.  All passport applicants need to have a social security number.  If the passport applicant does not have valid identification, then an identifying witness who has known the passport applicant for at least two years must accompany the applicant.

What are the rules regarding passport photos Passport applicants need to bring two identical photographs measuring 2” by 2”.  The background must be light, with a full frontal face shot and matte finish.

What fees are involved in getting a passport?  Passport fees for adults are currently $110 for adults.  This does not include the fees for expedited passports.  Passport fees are $80 for children age 15 and younger (passport expediting fees not included).  Checks or US postal money orders are the only acceptable forms of payment to the US Department of State.

Passport Acceptance Facilities Closing Across the US: Rush Passport Is OPEN for Business in New York City!

Saturday, April 23rd, 2011

US passportThe US State Department is doing is best to prevent passport fraud.  As a result, some passport acceptance facilities across the country will be closing.  Passport security is a very important area for the State Department to concentrate on.  In addition to passport offices and post offices, certain cities and towns have recorder’s offices that may also accept passport applications.

However, in 2003 the US State Department, in an effort to maximize passport security stopped opening new facilities that could issue both birth certificates and passports.  The Hancock County Recorder’s Office in Iowa is one such example of an agency that issues birth certificates and passports.  In 2010, the US State Department announced that any existing offices that issue both birth certificates and passports would no longer be able to issue passports.

As a result, the Hancock County Recorder’s Office will no longer be able to issue passports.  The last day that the office can act as a passport facility is Friday, April 29, 2011.  The workers at the Hancock County Recorder’s Office feel that they should be able to continue issuing passports because there has never been an incident of passport fraud coming from their office.  They have received passport training and feel that it is a service to the community to offer passport services.

The US Department of State feels that although there may have not been instances of passport fraud coming from the Hancock Recorder’s Office, they must adhere to the new regulations in the interest of passport security.

Passport Renewal? Expired Passport? Need an Expedited Passport? Call Rush Passport Today!

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Do you need a US passport today?  Is your US passport expired?  Do you need a passport for a trip that you are planning to take overseas?  Getting a US passport can be a daunting task for some people.  The US passport application has to be filled out just right.  The passport photos have to satisfy the passport guidelines.  And if you need your passport quick – there is a passport expediting process to contend with.

For a Pennsylvania man, an American who has been trying to get his passport renewed, the passport process has been a nightmare.  Since June 2010, Michael Hudson has been trying to get his US passport renewed so that he can visit his son in Bermuda.

For regular passport applicants, the process can take four to six weeks.  For this man, the passport process has taken 7 months and he still has nothing to show for it.  After contacting the Passport office in Portsmouth, New Hampshire he was told that his passport application is still being processed.

The man, a 54 year old US citizen with no criminal record has been waiting in limbo for his passport to arrive.  The passport office has asked Hudson to produce more information about his education, medical history, financial status and family background.

He has already sent the passport agency copies of his credit card and Social Security card, driver’s license, water bill and a school report card and is still waiting.

Don’t let this happen to you.  If you need a passport, let the passport experts at Rush Passport™ make your trips come true!

If you are a US citizen and interested in getting a US passport, contact Rush Passport™. US Passport Renewal Process Made Easy: Rush Passport

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Adult US Passports are valid for 10 years.  If your US passport is getting close to the 10 year mark, it is a good idea to apply for a passport renewal before your passport expires.  A person with an expired passport can always get a new passport, but it is best to do so before the passport expires.  As a matter of fact, stop reading this passport blog article for a moment and check to see when your passport expires.  It makes sense to keep a valid passport especially since a passport is now required to travel back and forth from the US to all other countries including Mexico and Canada.  With a valid passport you can be ready to travel whenever necessary.

In order to renew an expired passport it is always better if you can find your old passport.  The expired passport is handed in along with the passport renewal application.  But don’t worry – your old passport will be returned along with the new one.

When applying for a passport renewal, it’s not like renewing a driver’s license – I still have the same driver’s license photo from 15 years ago.  A passport renewal requires new passport photos.  You will need two copies of the passport photo to attach to your passport application.  Don’t worry – at Rush Passport™ – we offer professional passport photo services on the premises.

When renewing your passport, it may also be a good idea to get a US passport card in addition to the passport book.  The card is of particular value to travelers planning to visit Canada, Mexico or the Bahamas.

If you are a US citizen and interested in getting a US passport, contact Rush Passport™. If you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™.
