95-year-old Leland Davidson had been an undocumented US citizen for his entire life. Davidson was born in Canada to American Parents. When he was five, his parents (both US passport holders) moved back to the US to raise their son in America.
Davidson voted, obtained his social security number and even served in the United States Navy during WWII.
His US citizenship came automatically because his parents were both born in the US. Although Davidson was born in Canada, since his parents were both US passport holders, he was automatically given US citizenship.
However, last summer he was planning a trip to Canada and applied for an enhanced Washington State Driver’s License. He was told by the Department of Licensing that he couldn’t get an enhanced driver’s license because he was a Canadian citizen.
Davidson was trying to get an enhanced driver’s license to travel to Canada. The enhanced driver’s license can be used to enter Canada from the US and return back to the US in lieu of a passport.
Davidson was shocked. He thought of himself as a US citizen for 95 years and now he was told that he was a Canadian citizen. After a few months and a lot of red tape, Davidson finally was recognized as a US citizen. Davidson can get an enhanced driver’s license or a US passport to travel between the US and Canada. A US passport will also allow him to travel the world if he so wishes.
Davidson said he never got a US passport because he never traveled abroad. For years he had traveled back and forth to Canada, but never had to show more than a driver’s license.
All of that changed 2 years ago when the US government regulations changed and a passport or enhanced driver’s license was now required for people traveling by land to Canada from the US.

Are you planning to travel abroad and do you need a new passport or do you need to renew your existing passport?
Saturday, April 9th is the scheduled to be the 3rd Annual Passport Day in the USA. However, there is a small problem. Friday April 8th a major government shutdown is scheduled. Will the government shutdown rain on your passport parade? Or will Passport Day in the USA go on as planned?
Passport Day in the USA is designed to facilitate people who need to get a passport, but work Monday through Friday. US citizens who need to get new passports, add extra pages to a passport, get a passport card, renew your passport – you name it – Passport Day in the USA can help.
However, if the government shuts down due to budget issues, then Passport Day in the USA may be cancelled.
Approximately 30% of US citizens currently have a valid passport. Passport Day in the USA was aiming to improve those numbers. We will see how it all turns out on Friday, April 8th. Here at Rush Passport™ we’re hoping that Passport Day in the USA goes off without a hitch.

US passport trouble? Have you lost your passport? Was your passport stolen? Is your passport expired? Do you need a passport for the first time? Do you have a passport emergency? What would you do? I’ve heard people give the advice to call your member of congress. “Call your State Senator.” “Call your Assemblyman.” Does it really work to call your State Senator to help you get a passport? Can a Congressman or Senator really help you get your passport?
I wasn’t sure if you could call a Senator and ask for help in getting an expedited passport. I figured that they would be too busy to help a regular citizen get a passport. So I decided to look up the phone numbers of the New York State Senators and I got contact information for NY State Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand. I called Senator Schumer’s office to find out that his office was closed from Friday December 24th and would reopen open on January 3rd. Good luck getting passport help from Senator Schumer’s office… Then I called Kirsten Gillibrand and I got an answering machine that told me to leave a message. I also called a local Senator Toby Ann Stavisky’s office and again received an answering machine.
So, what is a person to do after they turn to a State Senator and come up empty? You can go to the US passport office in NYC and wait in line for 5 hours praying that you will get a chance to speak with someone – or you can take a more logical approach – call a US passport expeditor.
Rush Passport™ is a registered expeditor of the US Department of State and foreign consulates. Rush Passport™ can process all of your passport applications in person at one of the passport agencies across the country. If you’ve tried calling your State Senator and you’ve tried calling the passport agency to make an appointment and you cannot get one before your trip, Rush Passport™ can help.
If you don’t have the time to visit the passport agency in person, and can’t take time away from work, call Rush Passport™. If you can’t deal with the frustration of waiting on long lines at the passport agency, or dealing with confusing passport paperwork – call Rush Passport™.
Rush Passport™ makes the passport expediting process easy for you. We process in all 50 States, and if you just don’t know where, what or how this whole passport process works – don’t worry – we make it simple.

Passports are crucial for couples planning to get married. When it comes to a destination wedding or traveling abroad for the honeymoon – getting a passport is essential! If you don’t think getting a passport is important, just ask former NFL linebacker Jason Thomas.

When it comes to a destination wedding or traveling abroad for the honeymoon – getting a passport is essential!
Thomas proposed to his girlfriend, Jocelyn Hines and within a month Hines had fully planned a destination wedding for Jamaica.
However, three weeks before the wedding, Thomas realized that he didn’t have a current passport. He phoned the passport office and Thomas was told that he could get a same day passport, if necessary. He applied for the passport online and he waited 2 weeks for his passport to arrive. When his passport did not arrive, he went to the passport office in person. At the passport office, he was instructed to return the following Monday, just two days before his wedding on the island of Jamaica. The passport didn’t come Monday or Tuesday either.
Thomas called Hines at work and broke the news that he was unable to get a passport. The following day, as scheduled, Hines boarded the plane and flew to Jamaica to greet their 50 guests. Thomas was forced to stay home as he did not receive his passport in time.
The passport arrived soon after, but it was too late.
Hines returned to Baltimore and this time Thomas planned a wedding in their hometown of Baltimore, Maryland – where getting a passport was not part of the requirements.
They were married two months later – and they had their choice of honeymoon destinations as the newlyweds both were valid passport holders.
Don’t let this happen to you. Newly engaged? Newly married? Planning a destination wedding or honeymoon overseas? You’ll need a passport. If you are interested in obtaining a valid US Passport or US Passport Card, contact Rush Passport™ (877) 937-7277 (All 50 States) or (212) 643-9305 / New York Passport Agency 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and speak with a Live Passport Agent or visit us online at http://www.rushpassport.com

Need a passport? Get a passport! According to an article from the Washington Post, something valuable is for sale in China – a US Passport and citizenship for your new baby. The cost: $1,475.

Need a Passport? Get a Passport!
A husband and wife team, who live in Shanghai, run an agency that provides US Passports to the babies of expectant Chinese mothers willing to travel to the United States to give birth.
For the $1,475 fee, expectant mothers get a three-month stay in the US – two months before the birth and one month after. The accommodations include cable TV, wireless internet and all meals, for just $35 per day.
The mothers pay their own airfare and are responsible for getting a US visa.
A US Passport carries weight in China as the United States is seen as a place where students can get into a good university or land a high-paying job.
The main reasons they want US Passports for their babies are better education and better setting.
There are plenty of “birth tourism” packages sold online that offer US Passports.
If you are wondering about the legality of such a practice – the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, states that anyone born on US soil has the right to citizenship.
US officials confirm that it is not illegal to travel to the US for the purpose of giving birth to a child who can get a US Passport.
Opponents argue that the 14th Amendment was never intended to provide an instant passport to the children of people who are here illegally or who travel here for the purpose of gaining US citizenship for their child.
If more and more people use “birth tourism” it may be more difficult to get a visa.

Visit our Passport Agency in Person.
Need a new passport? Want to renew your passport? A suggestion: Come to our passport agency in person. Unless of course, you want to be like one of the 3,500 Britons whose personal information has been compromised. These people have been put at risk after their passports were lost or stolen in the British Royal Mail, known simply as the post. Each year hundreds of passports have gotten lost. In the last 5 years, over 3,500 passports have disappeared. These lost passports have fueled fears over identity theft. Passports contains details such as first and last name, date and place of birth, digital passport photos, passport numbers and signatures. In high risk postcodes, the Passport Service started using Secure Mail Services to reduce the number of passports lost in the mail.
Maybe the United States can learn something from this. Because of the importance and security risk involved, all passports should require a signature. This would drastically reduce the amount of stolen/lost passports.
