Passport Office Having Trouble Keeping Up With Passport Applications: Passport Blog: Rush Passport

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

ny passportTired of waiting around for your passport to arrive?  The US Department of State generally processes passports within 4-6 weeks.  If that seems like a long time to wait for your passport, imagine if you lived in Pakistan.  Currently, over 50,000 passport applicants who applied for their passports over 2 months ago are still waiting for their passports to arrive.  The passport problems are being blamed on faulty passport printing machines and a shortage of passport lamination paper.  The passport lamination paper is used to cover the machine-readable passports.

It seems like this is a recurring problem as the passport printing has been delayed for the same reasons 3 times in the past 3 years.  The passport agency has not taken steps to correct these issues.  In the meantime, Pakistani passport officials say that they are awaiting the arrival of new passport printing machines from Germany.

Can you just imagine all of the people with expired passports, lost passports who have applied for a new passport and are still waiting?  What about all of the passport applicants applying for first time passports?  The problems have had an effect on all passport applications, whether adult passport or child passport.

Some people are due to leave the county in the upcoming days and their passport has still not arrived.  People need passports to visit sick relatives and unfortunately some travelers do not get their passport in time to see their relatives before they pass away.  Other travelers have complained of corruption as passport officials are being bribed to get passport applicants expedited passports.

US Passports by State: You’ll Never Guess Which State Has the Highest Ratio of Citizens to Passports

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Passports are not as popular with US citizens as people expect.  The latest US passport statistics have been released and surprisingly enough, just 30% of US citizens are US passport holders.  Are you shocked by the number of Americans without US passports?  How many Americans actually have a passport?  Which states have the highest ratio of citizens that are US passport holders?  Do states on or close to the coast tend to have higher ratios of citizens to US passports than land locked states?

US passport mapYes, its true.  States that are either on, or close to the coasts have a tendency to feature the highest percentage of citizens holding US passports.  The top states with the highest ratios valid US of citizens to passports are California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Delaware.  All of these states feature over 60% of the citizens with US passports.  Do you know which state has the overall highest ratio of citizens to passports?  If you guessed New York, you’re wrong.  If you think California has the highest passport to citizen ratio, then you are wrong again.  It’s not Massachusetts either.  Nor is Delaware the leader in passport ratio.  Yup, you guessed it, New Jersey is the winner with over 68% of its citizens holding valid US passports.

There is one state that has the lowest percentage passport holders.  Do you know which state it is? Here’s a hint: It’s not east of the Mississippi or west of the Mississippi because it is Mississippi.  Less than 20% of Mississippi citizens hold US passports.

Regardless of what state you live in, Rush Passport™ can help make your trips come true.

Passports for Pets?

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Passport problems for a Berkshire family have left them devastated after they were forced to leave one of their family members behind.  The family member is actually their pet dog, Indy.  The pet was detained in France upon returning from a family vacation because his pet passport microchip failed.

Passport Renewal

Many countries now also employ the PETS passport system including the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The dog’s owner, Matt Roberts had his two dogs outfitted with surgically implanted passport microchips as part of the Pet Travel Scheme (“PETS”).  The Pet Travel Scheme (“PETS”) refers to a system that permits animals to travel between member countries without undergoing quarantine. A Pet Passport is a travel document that officially records information related to a specific animal.  The purpose of a pet passport is to speed up and simplify travel with animals between member countries.

PETS was originally established in the UK as a safeguard against rabies and as a way for animals to travel between countries without being quarantined.  Many countries now also employ the PETS passport system including the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The poor dog, Indy needed to have surgery to remove the passport chip.

Hopefully, Indy’s identity will be confirmed – or it can take up to 6 months for the dog to be issued a new pet passport.

Mr Roberts has two dogs, Indy and Buzz.  Buzz was allowed to re-enter the country, but the scanner could not read Indy’s passport microchip and Indy was detained in France.

The family had to have the passport microchip surgically removed from the dog and now they are waiting for the manufacturer to confirm that they passport chip is a match to the documentation on the pet passport.

Unfortunately, the vets who removed the passport chip feel that it may be corrupted and not sure that it will be able to be read.

Mr. Roberts may have no other choice than to reapply for a new pet passport for his dog.

It turns out that each year approximately 100 pets have passport microchip problems upon arrival to the UK.  In the majority of those cases, the passport microchip number can be identified by the manufacturer, and the pet is eventually permitted to enter the country.

Rush Passport Rachael Ray

Rush Passport™, the Passport Expeditor to the Stars, came to Rachael Ray’s rescue!

Did you know that Rush Passport™, the Passport Expeditor to the Stars, came to Rachael Ray’s rescue?  Rachael Ray’s passport problems began in September 2005.  She had a brand new show that she was about to start filming on location in Italy and at the same time, Ray needed to finalize her wedding plans in Montalcino.

Rachael had lost her passport  before was able to get a replacement passport.  However, when she realized that her passport  was missing this time – her passport  application was denied as she was notified that she had too many replacement passports issued in a short period of time.

Rachael Ray’s wedding and television show went according to planned. On September 24, 2005 Rachael wed John Cusimano, her boyfriend of three years and the vocalist and guitarist for indie rock group The Cringe in a castle in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy – and her television show continues to be a hit!

Rachael Ray’s manager didn’t know where to turn.  After searching the internet for passport expeditors, rushpassport.com came up.  Rachael Ray’s manager contacted Rush Passport™’s New York City Passport Agency and was told to come in to fill out the necessary passport  documentation.

Rachael Ray’s flight was scheduled for the following day – and between the television show that was due to tape and the wedding plans that needed to be finalized – one can only imagine how stressful a situation this was.

After helping them fill out the passport  application, the staff at Rush Passport™ quickly put Rachael and her manager at ease and told them to return the following day.  As promised, Rush Passport™ delivered a valid US Passport for Rachael Ray so that she could travel to Italy in time for the television taping and finalize her wedding plans.
