US passport renewalWith the Olympics coming to a close, one can’t help to wonder about the countless stories of athletes and family members who lost their passports.  What about all of the spectators who had passport issues?  More passport issues may be on the horizon as the Olympic games comes to an end this weekend.  Athletes, family members and fans may soon discover that when it is time to go home that they cannot find their passports.  It seems that many of the embassies in London should be prepared for people who have lost their passports, have had their passports stolen or damaged.  Several new passports will have to be issued.

On an average day it is hard to predict just how many people will lose or misplace their passports.  Now, think about all of the people who plan to be leaving London next week.  Surely they can’t all know where their passports are.  Sometimes by trying to find a secure location for one’s passport, the location is so secure that the passport’s owner can’t even find it!  Many travelers feel that their luggage is a safe place to store their passports.  Others feel that it would be better to keep passports in the room safe.  While others will only trust the hotel safe deposit box.  Some people just keep their passports on their person at all times.  Either way, be sure to make a photocopy of your passport, so that in the event your passport gets lost, you can make it as easy as possible to be replaced.

Olympic Passport Problems Few and Far Between: Rush Passport NYC

Sunday, July 29th, 2012

Losing your passport can be stressful.  Now imagine losing your passport and not being able to make it to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.  US shooter Kim Rhode has here US passport, but she wasn’t able to fly with her team to Olympic training camp.  Her puppy ate her airline ticket.  After the ticket was reissued, Rhode found out that her husband couldn’t make the trip to the Summer Games.  He lost his passport.

Rhode is attempting to become the first American to win individual medals in 5 Summer Olympics in a row.  Think about it, that’s medals in a twenty year span!

Since Rhode was unable to travel with the team, she practiced at home with support from her husband who couldn’t find his US passport.

Her four month old puppy ate her airline ticket and was not considered a suspect in the case of the husband’s missing passport.  Eventually, the missing passport was found and the ticket was reprinted.

Rhode will be partaking in the women’s trap and the skeet event at the Olympics and her husband will be there to support her (with his passport).

With so many athletes and their families coming from so many countries from all over the world, it is not surprising that passport issues can arise.  Considering just how many people with passports are traveling to the 2012 Olympics in London, the cases of lost passports and passport problems are relatively low.

70% of US Citizens Do Not Have a Passport. Do You Have Your Passport? Rush Passport NYC

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

get a passportDo you know how many people in the United States have a valid US passport?  Recent passport studies say that approximately 30% of US citizens have passports.  Some people think that this is number is high.  However, that means that 70% of Americans do not have passports.

Some states rank higher than others.  New Jersey and Alaska are believed to have the highest passport ownership percentage rates at approximately 60%.

It seems that there may be a trend with citizens living inland as states like Mississippi.  Only 20% of people living in Mississippi have a US passport.

This means that over 200 million US citizens do not have passports.  Why do such a large number of people not have their passports?  Will there come a time that the government will require all citizens to have a passport?

If you still haven’t gotten a passport and you are thinking about getting one, there are some things you should know.  For example, if you need a passport for immediate travel, there are passport expediting services available.  Passport agencies such as Rush Passport™can help people get new passports, expedited passports and passport renewal.  Rush Passport™ can also assist if your passport was lost or stolen.  If your passport is damaged or mutilated, Rush Passport™ can help.

Did you know that children of all ages require passports to travel overseas.  There is a special child passport that is valid for 5 years.  The adult passport is valid for 10 years.

Dog Eats Passport. Honeymoon Plans Ruined?

Sunday, November 21st, 2010

Passports are no longer exempt from the classic best all time excuse for not having your homework – “My dog ate it.” Yup, believe it or not, when it comes to passports, truth is stranger than fiction. This case of a passport problem may seem funny at first – but try to think about how funny it would be if it happened to you.

Eric Mann and Brook Blew were recently married and were excited to embark on their honeymoon to Mexico. Their puppy, Moses, a 2-year-old Bassett Hound, had a different idea. Moses, who according to his owners loves to eat shoes, books, earrings, remote controls and more – decided to eat Eric’s passport just 2 days before their honeymoon. When Eric checked the passport, he saw that the photo and bar code remained in tact.

What would you have done? Well, if you have ever read this passport blog before, you would’ve called Rush Passport™, Official US Passport Expeditors, Registered with US Department of State and Foreign Consulates. Obviously, Eric and Brook had not heard of Rush Passport™ so instead of trying to get a new passport in time, Eric decided to take his chances with the mutilated passport.

What happened next seemed great – passport security at Logan Airport in Boston let them through with the mutilated passport! However, they were in for a rude awakening when they reached Cancun, Mexico. Immigration officials were suspicious of the mutilated passport and refused Eric entry to Mexico. So, Eric and Brook had to fly back home immediately without being allowed to set foot outside of the airport.

Moses, more famous for parting the Red Sea, couldn’t part the Caribbean Sea this time!

Don’t let this happen to you – If you have a lost or mutilated passport, passport emergency of need a same day passport, contact Rush Passport™ immediately!

Passport Rules Different For All

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

How well do you know the passport rules and regulations?  Are yoPassport Hug by Kalandrakas on Flickru a minor under 16? You’ve got specific rules to follow to get your passport. How about 16 – 17? Yes, once again, there are special rules for you as well.  If you’re an adult first time applicant, the rules are different for you than if you’re an adult who has a currently valid passport, and both of these are different from an adult who last had a passport 15 years ago.

The fact that these regulations keep changing makes it difficult for anyone to be sure of what they need to get a passport. Now luckily, if you’re good with details, you can usually navigate the process and manage to get all the passports you’re going to need for that special trip to Europe you have coming up this year: a passport for your wife, whose name has changed since she last got a passport 16 years ago, your 15 year-old son who will turn 16 the day after you apply for his passport (do you follow the rules for children under 16 or 16 – 17?), your naturalized citizen mother, who was born in Italy but doesn’t have her original birth certificate or a driver’s license, and don’t forget one for yourself. But you’re the easy one. Maybe. Your passport is still valid for another 6 months, but there’s water damage from the time you went to the beach in Portugal and forgot to take off your moneybelt with the passport inside. According to the US Passport website, citizens with damaged passports need to apply in person. How damaged does it need to be to require you to show up in person?

I’m not sure what my point is here, except that there are an awful lot of problems that can come up when applying for a passport, and that’s only the beginning of the problem if you’re going to a country that also requires a visa. That’s another can of bureaucratic worms, so just make sure you start early, keep a calm head, and remember that it will all be worth it when you’re finally there hugging and chatting and sitting in the living room of the relatives you knew only from pictures and letters for all those years all those miles and customs stations away.
