Passport Renewal
get a US passportIf you are considering getting your passport renewed, there are several things to keep in mind.  Passport renewal shouldn’t be so complicated.  Passport renewal must take place in person in cases in which the passport is damaged.  Also when applying for a passport for a child, the passport application must be submitted in person.

Any passport issued over fifteen years ago must be applied for in person.  People who have legally changed their names need to apply for a passport renewal in person.  Passport renewals done by mail in the United States can only be mailed to addresses that are in the US or Canada.  In addition, it is important to know that passport renewal may be rejected if a person is delinquent in child support payments.

If you have any other questions or concerns about passport renewal, contact the passport renewal specialists at Rush Passport™.  At Rush Passport™ we make passport renewal easy.

Can a Congressman or Senator Help Me Get My Passport?

Monday, January 17th, 2011

US passport trouble?  Have you lost your passport?  Was your passport stolen?  Is your passport expired?  Do you need a passport for the first time?  Do you have a passport emergency?  What would you do?  I’ve heard people give the advice to call your member of congress.  “Call your State Senator.” “Call your Assemblyman.”  Does it really work to call your State Senator to help you get a passport?  Can a Congressman or Senator really help you get your passport?

senator passport helpI wasn’t sure if you could call a Senator and ask for help in getting an expedited passport.  I figured that they would be too busy to help a regular citizen get a passport.  So I decided to look up the phone numbers of the New York State Senators and I got contact information for NY State Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.  I called Senator Schumer’s office to find out that his office was closed from Friday December 24th and would reopen open on January 3rd.  Good luck getting passport help from Senator Schumer’s office…  Then I called Kirsten Gillibrand and I got an answering machine that told me to leave a message.  I also called a local Senator Toby Ann Stavisky’s office and again received an answering machine.

So, what is a person to do after they turn to a State Senator and come up empty?  You can go to the US passport office in NYC and wait in line for 5 hours praying that you will get a chance to speak with someone – or you can take a more logical approach – call a US passport expeditor.

Rush Passport™ is a registered expeditor of the US Department of State and foreign consulates.   Rush Passport™ can process all of your passport applications in person at one of the passport agencies across the country.  If you’ve tried calling your State Senator and you’ve tried calling the passport agency to make an appointment and you cannot get one before your trip, Rush Passport™ can help.

If you don’t have the time to visit the passport agency in person, and can’t take time away from work, call Rush Passport™.  If you can’t deal with the frustration of waiting on long lines at the passport agency, or dealing with confusing passport paperwork – call Rush Passport™.

Rush Passport™ makes the passport expediting process easy for you. We process in all 50 States, and if you just don’t know where, what or how this whole passport process works – don’t worry – we make it simple.

US Passport Card Allows Travel to Mexico and Canada. But, Do You Know the Restrictions?

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

Rush Passport US Passport CardArizona has been in the news lately because of the passport controversy surrounding SB 1070 as evidenced by a past Rush Passport™ blog entry from July 2010.  This time Arizona is in the news for something passport related, but it has to do more with misinformation.

Getting a passport is not exactly rocket science, but it can be confusing.  There is a lot of misinformation out there and passport applicants can sometimes get stuck in red tape.

Making travel plans and trying to get everything in order can be stressful.  Getting a passport doesn’t need to be.  Some people don’t even know where to start when it comes to getting a passport.  Others find the question of how to get a passport puzzling.  However, when the clerk at the post office who is supposed to be handling your passport application is one of those people who finds the passport process confusing – it can present a major disaster.

This was just the case that a family from Highlands Ranch, Arizona experienced when they went to the post office to get their passports.  The family was planning a trip to Mexico, but found themselves unable to leave the US.

Lara Marxhausen states that she visited the post office to get passports for her and here family in preparation for their upcoming trip to Mexico.  Marxhausen says that the passport clerk suggested that she could save money by getting a passport card instead of the traditional passport book.

Marxhausen thought it would be a great way to save money and according to the clerk the passport card does allow US citizens to travel into Mexico.  This is correct.  However, the passport card is only good for travel to Mexico and Canada by land.  Unfortunately, the Marxhausen family found this out at the airport when they tried boarding the plane from Phoenix to Mexico.

Don’t make this mistake.  Be sure to read all passport application paperwork carefully – and when in doubt – speak with a passport expert.

Celebrity Passport Security Issues

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

Rush Passport™ has established itself as the Passport Expediter to the Stars!  Celebrities from diverse fields of entertainment come to our NYC Passport office all the time!  Musicians, athletes, Hollywood actors and actresses, TV and radio personalities have made Rush Passport™ the Passport Expediter to the Stars for all of their passport needs

Celebrity Passport Lindsay Lohan

One reason that celebrities choose Rush Passport™ is because of the lightning fast passport expediting service that we provide. Another reason why celebrity passports are our specialty is because of the confidentiality and passport security that we offer.

Just this week a US government passport office employee was arrested for allegedly using her computer security privileges to gain access to the personal passport information and passport applications of over 100 celebrities and their families.

Oddly enough, as if Lindsay Lohan didn’t have enough passport trouble already – she is listed in the charges of one of the celebrities whose passport data was compromised.

The US Department of State clerk, Brooke Reyna allegedly didn’t limit her activity to Lindsay Lohan – she allegedly viewed passport information on a multitude of celebrities, actors, reality-television contestants, television personalities, musicians, models, athletes and more.

Reyna, 28 years old, has been hit with felony charges for unauthorized computer access.  The FBI and other government authorities are still trying to determine whether Reyna only viewed the celebrity passports or if she collected or sold any of the confidential passport data.

You don’t have to be a celebrity to get a passport.  If you are a US citizen and you are interested in getting a secure and confidential US Passport or US Passport Card, visit us at http://www.rushpassport.com or call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a Live Passport Agent.  (877) 937-7277 (All 50 States) or (212) 643-9305 New York Passport Agency.  Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Miami, Florida.

Passport Biometrics vs Machine Readable Passports

Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

Biometric Passports or machine readable passports– which is the better choice? According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), biometric Passports are the obvious choice.  The ICAO sets standards regarding passport size, passport  composition, passport  layout and more importantly – passport technology.

Biometric e-passport

The hope is that countries that continue to issue machine readable passports will opt for e- passports or biometric passports as they are sometimes called.  Ghana, for example, began issuing biometric e-passports since March 2010.  Non-biometric passports are still accepted in Ghana, however, the plans are for the machine readable passports to be valid through November of 2015.  At that time, machine readable passports would no longer be acceptable as passport  holders would need to obtain biometric passports.

Under the new biometric passports system, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) passports  are available in three styles of passport: ordinary passports, service passports, and diplomat passports.  To make things easier for passport officials, the passports are color coded. Ordinary passports are green, service passports are blue, and diplomatic passports are red. In addition to the color coded passport revisions, the Ghanaian coat of arms has been replaced by the ECOWAS logo, and the words “Republic of Ghana”  are printed on the passport cover.  Ghana also boasts both French and English on their passports.

With the introduction of biometric passports comes the option of applying for standard passport services or expedited passport delivery service.  There is an additional fee that applies for those who opt for the expedited passport

To assist with the passport expedition application services, new Passport Application Centers (PACs) have been set up across Ghana and there are plans for several more Passport Application Centers to follow in the near future.

Currently, the Passport Office has been issuing the biometric passports alongside the machine readable passports.

If you are thinking about traveling to Ghana or to any other country where a passport is required and you need to get a US Passport  or US Passport Card immediately, visit us at www.RushPassport.com or call us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak with a Live Passport Agent.  (877) 937-7277 (All 50 States) or (212) 643-9305 New York Passport  Agency.  Rush Passport™  : Expediter of Passports, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Miami, Florida.

Passports for Mexicans?

Monday, September 27th, 2010

US Passports for Mexican nationals aren’t easy to come by – but Mexican passports are if you live in North Carolina.  Approximately 400 Mexican nationals attended Concord High School’s Mexican Passport Event earlier this month.  The 400 people were there to apply for Mexican passports and additional forms of Mexican identification.

Mexican Passport

The passport event had a purpose – to ensure that Mexican citizens have proper identification from the Mexican government.

Just to clarify – no US Passports were issued at the event.  The Mexican passports and government-issued picture IDs (matricula consular cards) were provided to passport applicants who supplied birth certificates and additional documentation.

Mexican nationals need valid passports to get back into Mexico once they return home.  The matricula consular card can be used as a form of identification in the United States.

Many Mexican nationals cannot open up bank accounts because they do not have US Passports or other necessary forms of identification.  However, people with both a matricula consular card and a Mexican passport can open up bank accounts.

The matricula card can also be used to provide proof of identity for such things as enrolling children in school or applying for credit.  It is also enables Mexicans to obtain an individual tax identification number from the IRS so that they may pay US income tax.

Many of the Mexicans who attended the event needed to obtain a passport so that they could use them as identification during trips back to Mexico.

Rush Passport: The Passport Expeditor to the Stars Saves Rachael Ray’s Wedding Plans

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010
Rush Passport Rachael Ray

Did you know that Rush Passport™, the Passport Expeditor to the Stars, came to Rachael Ray’s rescue?  Rachael Ray’s passport problems began in September 2005.  She had a brand new show that she was about to start filming on location in Italy and at the same time, Ray needed to finalize her wedding plans in Montalcino.

Rachael had lost her passport  before was able to get a replacement passport.  However, when she realized that her passport  was missing this time – her passport  application was denied as she was notified that she had too many replacement passports issued in a short period of time.

Rachael Ray’s wedding and television show went according to planned. On September 24, 2005 Rachael wed John Cusimano, her boyfriend of three years and the vocalist and guitarist for indie rock group The Cringe in a castle in Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy – and her television show continues to be a hit!

Rachael Ray’s manager didn’t know where to turn.  After searching the internet for passport expeditors, rushpassport.com came up.  Rachael Ray’s manager contacted Rush Passport™’s New York City Passport Agency and was told to come in to fill out the necessary passport  documentation.

Rachael Ray’s flight was scheduled for the following day – and between the television show that was due to tape and the wedding plans that needed to be finalized – one can only imagine how stressful a situation this was.

After helping them fill out the passport  application, the staff at Rush Passport™ quickly put Rachael and her manager at ease and told them to return the following day.  As promised, Rush Passport™ delivered a valid US Passport for Rachael Ray so that she could travel to Italy in time for the television taping and finalize her wedding plans.

Online Passport Applications

Online Passport Processing

Online passports are really taking off in India.  The facility for online application introduced by the passport office has greatly reduced the amount of manual work necessary for the registration of passport applications.

Within 24 hours, they are able to nearly double the amount of passports being processed in half the time.  This is important because it helps people who have passport emergencies, need rush passports, need passports on the same day and travelers who have lost their passports, have expired passports or need passport renewal services.

The online application for passports not only saves time but has also reduced the need for the employment of extra staff at the Passport Office.

Previously, the entire passport application filing work was done manually. Since the online passport system has been introduced, much of the work is completed online.

Passport officials at the passport office note that not only is work getting done fast, but the online passport registration has minimized the chances of the passport applications being rejected for inaccuracies.

Passport applicants not only file passport applications online, but they also get information regarding the status of their passport applications.  After online applications are filed, the passport applicant receives an online registration number that can be reviewed online.

Passport  applicants can also find out their passports were issued and received notification and reasons for rejection of their passport applications.

Currently, it takes 2-3 days after the application has been filed before they should visit the passport office.

Passport Deadline Set for December 31st, 2010

Thursday, September 9th, 2010
Nigerian Passport

Nigerians are being urged to get the new electronic passports before the December 31st, 2010 deadline.  If not, they may not be able to use their existing passports to travel outside the country.

The current Machine Readable Passport, MRP will be invalid as of midnight December, 31st of this year.

Nigerian officials warn that failure to comply with the new passport regulations will result in travel outside the country being denied.  Passport officials are being instructed to challenge any MRP passport holders who fail to present the new electronic passports.

In addition, the Passport Office is requiring all foreign nationals in Nigeria to register biometrically.

Currently, most travel passports in the world are MRPs. They were standardized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and contain a special Machine Readable Zone or MRZ that appears at the bottom of the identity page in the front pages of a passport.

The information that must be provided in the zone include: passport holder’s name, passport number, passport holder’s nationality, date of birth, gender, passport expiration date and personal identity number.  Some countries also include optional, supplementary information.

A biometric passport or e-passport (ePassport) is a combination of paper and electronic passport.  Biometric passports contain biometric data used to confirm the authenticity of passport holders.  E-passports use smart card technology, a microprocessor chip (computer chip) and antenna (for both power to the chip and communication) embedded in either the front, back cover, or center page of the passport.
