Kim Kardashian Visa Troubles in Australia

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Australia visaWhen applying for a visa, it is important to state the reasons for travel.  There is a difference when you visit a country as a tourist or if you visit on a business trip.  If you do not follow visa regulations, countries can take action.  You may not be allowed to return to the country if you break visa rules.

Kim Kardashian recently visited Australia and applied for a visa.  On the visa application, she applied as a tourist, but it turns out that she conducted a lot of business in Australia.  As a result, Australia has placed Kim Kardashian on a watch list.  This is her third such visa-related incident.

Kardashian took past trips to Australia in 2007 and 2010 and on those visits she also said that the purpose of her trip was tourism, but in fact she spent much of the time promoting her products.  Her future trips to Australia will be monitored closely and she may run the risk of getting her Australian visa cancelled if she doesn’t comply with the visa regulations.

To find out more about visa regulations and to get a visa for travel to Australia or various other countries, feel free to contact Rush Passport™.

US Passport Fraud Found in Chicago: Rush Passport NYC

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

When you think of street gangs, certain things come to mind.  Robberies, weapons and drug trafficking are commonplace.  However members of a Chicago street gang have been charged with passport fraud.

According to the US Department of Justice, members of the Belizean Bloods street gang have been indicted on charges of passport fraud.  Passport fraud is a problem that is seen all over the world.  At one time or another, most countries across the world have been affected by passport fraud.  The passport is a document that is constantly being upgraded to combat passport fraud.

Passport fraud is potentially dangerous because people who should not be able to travel between countries gain access.  Aside from allowing people who should not be allowed access into a particular country, passport fraud also enables individuals to illegally obtain other forms of identification.

US passports are among the world’s most secure passports.  However, that doesn’t mean that it is impossible to obtain a fraudulent US passport.  It is important that law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with the US Dept of State to combat passport fraud.

passport renewalFake US passports can create problems in many ways.  These fraudulent passports put the nation’s security at risk.  While the US passport is one of the most secure passports in the world, no country’s passport is 100% secure.  A couple was recently arrested by Delhi police after they had gone to apply for visas at the US embassy.  Both the man and the woman had two passports each.  According to the passport act, this is illegal.

As it turns out, the embassy discovered that in the past the couple had visited the UK and violated visa rules.  They were caught and then they were deported to India.  Once they returned to India, it seems that each of them illegal obtained a second passport.   Records also show that the man attempted to obtain a third passport under a fictitious name.

When the couple applied for a visa at the US embassy, it was discovered that they each had two passports.   Police have since recovered the passports and the pair has been booked.

Getting a US Passport Can Be Easy: Rush Passport NYC

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

passport-renewalGetting a US passport is easy if you are a US citizen.  However, obtaining a passport is not as easy for those who are not US citizens.  A woman, who happens to be a US citizen and holder of a US passport has been arrested by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers after trying to smuggle a 10-month old Mexican national infant into the United States.

The woman came in contact with CBP officers on Monday, November 14, 2011 when she reportedly presented a US passport card for herself at a border stop between the US and Mexico.  She also presented a US passport for her 16-year-old daughter.  She did not provide passports for the 3 year old girl and 10 month old infant that she claimed were her niece and nephew.  However, she did provide State of Texas birth certificates for the two children.

After further inspection, it was discovered that not only was the infant was not related to the woman, but that the infant was a Mexican national with no valid documentation to enter or reside in the United States.

The woman was jailed, her 16 year old daughter and three year old niece were returned to an adult family member.  As for the infant, his biological parents were contacted and they arrived to claim their baby and returned back to Mexico.

Child Passport: Minor Passport: Rush Passport, NYC

Child PassportWhen it comes to getting a passport, it really isn’t as complicated as it seems.  However, if you want to make sure that everything is done properly, contact Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

When it comes to getting a passport for a child, many questions come up.  The most commonly asked question is the age that a child is considered an adult.  People ages 16 years and older require an adult passport, while those under 16 years of age require a child passport.  Another common passport question involves a child being too young to sign his or her own passport.   If this is the case, the mother or father should print the child’s name, but sign their own name.  (The parent should also write the word (mother) or (father) in parenthesis so that the US Dept of State officials are aware of who signed the passport.

Another common child passport question: Is it necessary for both parents or legal guardians to give consent for a child passport?  As of February 1, 2008, the law requires that US passport applications for minors require both parents’ or legal guardians’ consent.  There are some circumstances in which this can be modified, such as if both parents are not around, or if there is a custody battle.  In additon, the Child’s Passport Issuance Alert Program (CPIAP) notifies parents of passport applications made on behalf of minor children.

If you have further questions about child passports, or if you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, passport renewal, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. A Tale of Two Passports and Two Mothers: Rush Passport

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

The last time that Miles Apollo Neumann Auster entered the United States, it was an as Australian citizen.  The next time that he enters the US, it will be as the first dual-citizen child of a multinational gay couple.

The child was born in Melbourne, Australia in the Spring of 2011.  Miles’ birth certificate states that he has two mothers, an Australian one and an American one.

Since Miles was born in Australia, he was automatically granted Australian citizenship.  In addition Miles’ parents hoped that since his other mother is American that he would be granted US citizenship as is the case to any other child born abroad to at least one American parent.

That was not the case.  While the US decision was still pending, the younger brother of his American mother, Rachael Neumann died.  The family got tourist visas, purchased tickets and attended the funeral in the US.

Upon arriving home to Australia, the family found out that Miles would indeed become an American citizen the next time a US customs agent stamps his visa.  This would make Miles eligible for a US passport.  There is one catch, the child must return before the April 12th deadline; before his first birthday.

However, the cost of the flight for the family to travel to the US is approximately $5,000.  The family spent their savings on the most recent trip to the US, and is not sure if they can afford another trip to the states before April.

A US Birth Abroad certificate entitles a child of an American parent a US birth certificate, passport and Social Security if the child appears in person at the consulate.

Real ID Law is the Perfect Reason to Get a Passport: Rush Passport NYC

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

passportA passport is a great form of identification.  The passport is becoming even more important as the Real ID Law comes into effect in some states.  Florida, for example, is participating in the Real ID program and as a result it is becoming increasingly difficult to renew a driver’s license.

In order to get a driver’s license renewal, a person must provide a birth certificate, Social Security card and two documents proving address.

The Real ID Law was enacted in 2010 to combat identity theft and to prevent illegal immigrants and potential terrorists from getting official state ID cards.

Currently, passports are required for air travel abroad.  A driver’s license is an acceptable form of identification for domestic travel.  Passports or driver’s licenses may also be used as identification to enter federal buildings such as courthouses.  However, some predict that the US will require Real ID cards to board an airplane or enter a federal building.   The change is expected to take effect December 1, 2014, for people born after Decemeber 1, 1964, and on Decemeber 1, 2017, for everyone else.

By getting a US passport now, you can save the headache of not having sufficient identification.  It is best to be prepared, and getting a passport can offer peace of mind for future identification issues.

Passport Hike Expected in 2012? Rush Passport NYC

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Canadian epassport biometric chipA passport hike is coming soon.  Relax – that’s only if you have a Canadian passport.  The US passport fees don’t look like they are about to increase anytime soon – but you never know.  One thing is almost certain – passport fees won’t go down.

In 2012, the cost for a new Canadian passport is expected to go up to $225.  The ePassport will be valid for 10 years.

The new biometric passports will include an electronic chip that is encoded with personal data such as your name, gender, and date and place of birth.  A digital image of the passport holder’s face will also be embedded into the passport chip.

Currently, the price of a Canadian passport is $87 and it is valid for 5 years.  While the new adult passports are expected to be valid for 10 years, children passports will continue to be valid for 5 years.

The price of $225 has not been announced as of yet, but word has it that Prime Minister Harper paid $225 for a diplomatic ePassport.  This has caused people to speculate that the rate for all ePassports will be $225 starting in late 2012.

Is Your Passport Enough Proof for Guinness World Records? Rush Passport NYC

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

Do you have a US passport?  A US passport can be used to verify identication.  It is also needed to travel outside of the country – unless you have a US passport card and you are staying close to home to a destination such as Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean.  While passports have plenty of clout around the world, there’s one organization that won’t accept a man’s passport.  That organization is the Guinness World Records and the person is Fauja Singh, from Ilford, east London.

After completing the Toronto marathon, Mr. Singh asked to be recognized by the Guinness World Records as the oldest person to run a marathon.  However, Guinness says that it cannot ratify the record because Mr Singh cannot produce a birth certificate from 1911.  According to his trainer, Harmander Singh, birth certificates did not exist in India at that time.

Mr. Singh’s British passport, displays his date of birth as being April 1, 1911.  In addition he has provided Guinness with a letter from the Queen of England congratulating him on on his 100th birthday.  However, neither the passport or the congratulatory letter from the Queen are considered sufficient proof for Guinness.

In addition to the passport and the Queen’s letter, another letter from the Indian government stating that no birth records were kept in 1911 still doesn’t suffice.  Even a statement from a former neighbor verifying Singh’s age could not put Singh over the top.

While Guinness World Records has not ratified this record, Mr Singh is listed as a record holder by the World Masters Athletics organization.  Apparently, his UK passport was accepted as a proof-of-age document.

If you are planning to run in the New York City marathon coming up on November 6, 2011 your passport will be sufficient proof of identity, but if you plan to break any Guinness World Records, be sure to have your birth certificate handy.

Passports

Passports are travel documents.  Passports generally come in the form of a small booklet.  A passport has mutliple functions.   Passports not only enable a person to travel outside of their home country, but passports have other functions.  While passports do not automatically grant a passport holder the right to enter any country, US passport holders are able to travel to many countries without having to get additional documentation.  Passports also act as proof of citizenship.  People holding U.S. Passports are recognized internationally as United States citizens.

What are passport cards?

Passport cards first became available in July of 2008.  Passport cards are wallet-sized travel documents that can be used to travel from the US to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land and sea.  Passport cards are not valid for air travel.  Passport cards offer convenience for US citizens who live close to the US border with Mexico or Canada and to those who travel frequently by land or sea.  Passport cards may not be used for travel to destinations other than Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean.  Passport cards cannot be used for international air travel.

For how long are US passports valid?

passport nycThe length of time that passports are valid for depends on the passport holder’s age.  Adult US passports for individuals ages 16 and older are valid for a period of ten years.  Children ages 15 and under receive passports that are valid for five years.
