As the 2012 holiday travel season approaches, it is important to be aware that the number of US Passport applications usually increases due to Thanksgiving and Christmas travel. During this busy passport season, it could take several weeks more to get a passport if you go through the traditional methods. Whether it is a first-time passport or a passport renewal, wait times are generally longer during this time. This may present problems for people who must travel abroad and need to be sure to have their passports in time for travel.
If you need to travel on short notice and your passport is expired, your passport is lost or you have never had a passport before, it is important to know that you have other options.
One such option for passport applicants who need their passport in less than 10 weeks is to pay the US State Department additional expediting fees. This option should cut the wait time to approximately 4 weeks.
Another option, if you need to travel in the next 14 days or less, is to try scheduling an in person appointment at your local passport agency. Keep in mind that you will need to provide proof that you are traveling abroad in less than 14 days.
The third and possibly quickest option is to visit Rush Passport™. At Rush Passport™ we are a passport expediting company with passport specialists that can assist travelers who need to travel abroad in the next 14 days or less. We are conveniently located in the heart of Manhattan at 875 6th Avenue, Suite #1606, New York, NY 10001.
If you are interested in getting a child passport, adult passport or visa, give us a call at (212) 643-9305. Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

Passport fraud is a serious problem in the United States. Many people try to get into the US illegally and some people make it. Generally, people convicted of passport fraud get deported. Ten years ago, Jacqueline Brown was convicted of passport fraud and she was scheduled to be deported back to Jamaica. However, Ms. Brown was able to stay in the United States under various aliases.
Ms. Brown recently had her cover blown while working as a teacher’s assistant in a school in Connecticut under the name “Ann Scott”. Ms. Brown is in now in federal custody awaiting deportation for passport fraud.
Getting a valid US passport is a privilege that US citizens can take advantage of. However, approximately two-thirds of Americans don’t own passports.
A passport can open up many doors in a person’s life. Traveling to a foreign country is something that everyone should experience. It is most likely true that children whose parents have passports are more likely to get passports themselves.
Parents should get adult passports for themselves and child passports for their children and take a family vacation to a foreign country to widen their horizons. While there are plenty of attractions in the US that don’t require a passport to visit, one’s options should be open to many possibilities. Passports make those opportunities possible.
If you have questions about getting a visa, a passport, an expedited passport, emergency passport, passport renewal, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Do you need a US passport? Do you need a US passport now? Do you have a passport emergency? If you do not have a valid passport and you have travel plans within the next 14 days, then you may be eligible for an expedited passport. If not, then the wait for a passport can be up to 8 weeks.
If you would like to know how long it takes to get a passport, the answer is not that simple. There are many factors that come into play. First, it depends on when, where and how the passport application is submitted.
Here are some factors that can affect the amount of time it takes for a person to get a passport:
- When the passport is applied for is a factor when it comes to determining how long it will take for a passport application to be filled. To get a passport quickly, you may want to plan out the time of year in which you submit your passport application. It should be noted that the busiest time of the year to submit a passport application is during summer months. It may be a good idea to get a passport during off peak periods of the year. But, when you need a passport right away, you can always apply for an expedited passport. Rush Passport™ can get you a same day passport as long as you have a travel itinerary stating that you will be departing within 2 weeks.
- Where a person submits the passport application can effect the passport turnover time. If you are applying for a passport at the US passport office or through the USPS, it can take up to 3 months for a person to receive a US passport. However, if you require a passport immediately or are in the middle of a passport emergency, you should visit Rush Passport™, Official Expediters of US Passports.
- How a person applies for a passport can effect the amount of time it takes for a person to get a passport. The traditional way of submitting a passport application through the USPS or the US passport office can take anywhere from 4 weeks to 3 months. But, if you have a passport emergency or if you need to get your passport faster, you can utilize Rush Passport™ Passport Expediting Service and get your passport on the same day that you apply.
If you need a US passport card or other passport services such as an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book or passport photos be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Expired passport? Lost passport? You’re not alone. According to a UK passport study, it turns out that 1 out of 10 British travelers have previously planned or attempted to travel abroad with an expired passport. Incidentally, if your passport is expired, then you will be considered ineligible to travel abroad.
An expired passport can ruin a vacation, can be a disaster to a business trip and can prevent travel abroad. However, in a passport emergency, it is still possible to get a passport – even on the same day. Passport expediting services are available to travelers who have lost their passports, had their passports stolen, have expired passports and a host of other reasons. The UK study also shows that 24% of UK passport holders thought you could travel using your passport right up until the date which it expires. This, by the way, is not always the case as tourists often need up to 6 months remaining on their passports when traveling to some destinations.
The UK passport survey also discovered that almost 10% of UK travelers had their travel plans affected by an expired passport. Believe it or not, 13% of UK passport holders thought that they didn’t need a passport to travel within Europe. 3% of UK passport holders actually thought that a passport was not necessary to travel to the United States.

Have you ever thought about traveling abroad? Are you already a world traveler? Do you have a US passport? If you have a US passport, you are one of the 30% of Americans who has a valid passport. If you do not have a passport, you are among the 70% of Americans who do not have a passport.
That’s right, just 30% of American citizens actually have a passport. These statistics seem a bit shocking. The fact that such a small number of Americans have a passport is strange because America is a relatively affluent country. That would tend to indicate that Americans would have the resources to get a passport and to travel abroad.
Since 2009, when travelers had to show passports to enter Mexico and Canada from the US, some Americans have gotten passports and others simply chose not to travel to those countries anymore.
It seems that because America is so large and so geographically and culturally diverse, many Americans feel that they don’t need to get a passport and that there is plenty right here in America to keep them busy.
If you think that you may need to get a passport, it is a good idea to get one before you make your travel arrangements. Some people wait until the last minute to get their passports. If you decide to wait until the last minute, it doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to travel. It just means that you will need to get an expedited passport.
Do you hold a U.S. passport? If so, when does it expire? Do you need to renew your passport? If you don’t yet have a passport, it is a good idea to get one and be prepared just in case you do decide to travel abroad.

It is estimated that approximately 1 of 3 Americans hold a valid US passport. That means that there are an awful lot of Americans who don’t have a US passport.
One man, Rick Steves is trying to inspire those Americans who have yet to get a US passport. How? He has launched the “No Passport? No Problem!” campaign. Under this program, Steves pledges to underwrite the cost of a first-time passport for any passport applicants who sign up for one of his travel company’s tours.
Steves he got his passport at the age 14 and he has since been well traveled, having had his passport stamped throughout Europe. He has written tour guidebooks and runs a travel company that takes approximately 10,000 Americans abroad each year.
Sure, Steves is using the fact that many Americans don’t have a passport to help sell tours, but some may need that extra push to take the plunge and finally get a US passport.
Nearly 14 million US passports and US passport cards were issued in 2010, but still approximately 70% of US citizens don’t have a passport.
In order to qualify for the free passports, clients must send in copies of their first-time 2011 passport with a receipt from Steves’ tour company.
It seems that Steves is getting Americans passports – one passport at a time.
