US passports are available to US citizens. Some people have been living in the US for quite some time, but have not become citizens. Are you interested in becoming a US citizen? If so, you will be eligible to apply for a US passport.
German basketball star Dirk Nowitzki may decide to apply for US citizenship, thus making him eligible for a US passport. Nowitzki led the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA championship in 2011 and he even visited with President Barack Obama at the White House. However, he is not a US citizen and does not carry a US passport.
Nowitzki has hinted that he may consider applying for US citizenship. If Nowitzki plans to stay in the States, it probably makes sense for him to apply for citizenship.
President Obama singled out Nowitzki giving him praise for winning the NBA championship. Nowitzki arrived in the US from “as a skinny kid with a goofy haircut” and has emerged as one of the premier players in the NBA. Nowitzki handed the president a blue Mavericks jersey with the number 23, a shout out to retired NBA superstar Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, Obama’s favorite team.
Some are skeptical as to whether Nowitzki will apply for US citizenship – especially since he was named German male athlete of the year for 2011. If Nowitzki decides to become a US citizen, he would not have to give up his German passport. In 2010, German tennis player Tommy Haas gained duel citizenship and he continues to represent Germany in tennis.
Whether or not Nowitzki will carry a US passport in addition to his German passport remains to be seen. However, if you are a US citizen and you need a passport, visit Rush Passport™.

Do you know the answer to the question: At what age does a child require a US passport to travel abroad? The answer is at birth! Well, actually there is an exception to the rule and that happens when a baby is born on an international flight. On Monday, September 19th, Philippine Airlines’ crew helped deliver a baby boy aboard a plane from the Philippines to San Francisco, California.
The mom, Aida Alamillo, 41 years of age, was traveling from Manila to San Francisco when she went into labor. The crew members along with three nurses onboard helped deliver the healthy baby boy. The little boy was named Kevin Raymar Francis Domingo. The name “Francis” was given because the boy was born en route to San Francisco.
Alamillo hoped that the baby would be born in the U.S. after the plane had landed because that would automatically guarantee that the child would be eligible for U.S. citizenship. It is not clear whether or not the baby was born over international waters or in U.S. airspace.
If indeed the baby is a US citizen, then he will need a child passport to travel back home to the Philippines. If this is the case, then Rush Passport™ would like to offer the family expedited passport services as a welcome gift to the newest US citizen.
If you are in need of expedited passport services, an expedited passport, emergency passport, 24 hour passport, passport renewal, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Did you know that adult US Passports are valid for 10 years? Child passports are good for 5 years. Is your US passport getting close to the 10 year mark? If so, it is a good idea to apply for a passport renewal before your passport expires. If you have an expired passport, you can always get a new passport. However, it is advisable to get a new passport before the passport expires. Right now, if I were you, I would immediately stop reading this passport blog article. Go get your passport, open your passport up and check your passport to see when your passport expires. It is a good idea to have a valid passport at all times. You never know when you might need to travel overseas. In the past a passport was not needed to travel to Canada or Mexico. However, a passport is now required to travel back and forth from the US to all other countries including Mexico and Canada. A valid US passport gives you the flexibility to travel whenever needed.
It is best to find your old passport (if possible) when attempting to renew an expired passport. At the time of the passport renewal, it is a good idea to hand in the expired passport. The old passport will be returned along with the new passport.
When applying for a passport renewal, you will also require new passport photos. You will need two copies of the passport photograph to be attached to your passport application. At Rush Passport™ , we feature professional passport photo services on the premises.
When renewing your passport, it is advisable to get a US passport card while you’re at it. A passport card in addition to the passport book is of high value, especially to travelers planning to visit Canada, Mexico or the Bahamas.
If you need a US passport card or other passport services such as an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book or passport photos be sure to contact Rush Passport™. A Greenville, South Carolina man was sentenced on Friday to 10 years in prison for illegally taking his child to Thailand. The man, Samuel Lee Horton, forged his wife’s signature, applied for a child passport and took his daughter to Thailand.
The parents had been divorced and his ex-wife had custody of their 2 children. Horton had visitation rights, but apparently he wasn’t satisfied.
Horton, admitted forging his ex-wife’s signature for the purpose of getting the passport for his 3 year old daughter. He told his ex-wife that he was taking his daughter to Disney World, but got his daughter a passport and instead boarded a plane to Thailand. The pair lived in Thailand for over a year where he told his daughter that her mother had died.
Horton pled guilty to falsifying a document for the purpose of getting a passport for his daughter. Not only has he been sentenced to 10 years in prison, his parental rights have been terminated and he still faces further charges regarding the violation of a custody order.
It is important to know that minors under the age of 16 must apply for a passport in person. All minors, including newborns must have their own passport to travel abroad by air. In order to get a passport for a minor, first the application for a US passport (DS-11) must be completed. Remember not to sign the passport application until in the presence of a passport agent. The passport form must then be presented in person by both parents and the minor for whom the passport application is being submitted. Evidence of the child’s US citizenship must be presented with the passport application. Acceptable forms of identification include a previously issued passport, a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth or a Naturalization Certificate.
In addition, evidence of the relationship between the child and the parent(s) / guardian(s) must be provided. The parents or guardians must also present and make copies of their identifications. An important step is for the parents or guardians to provide consent. Both parents must provide consent to apply for a passport for a minor under age 16. There are specific scenarios in which both parents do not need to be present at the time the passport application is submitted. One parent can appear in person with a notarized statement of consent from the other parent. A parent with sole custody may appear without the other parent as long as the parent can provide proof of sole custody at the time of the passport application. A third party may apply for a passport for a minor, but the third party must provide authorization from both parents.
The passport applicant must pay the passport application fee and submit one passport photo.

It is important to follow the rules of passport photos when attempting to take your own passport photos for the passport application. Taking passport photos of an adult is a much different process than taking a passport photo of a baby or toddler.
When taking a passport photo of a baby or toddler, it is important to be sure that there is nobody else in the photo. The child must be looking at the camera with his/her eyes open for the passport photo to be acceptable.
Here is a tip on how to take an acceptable passport photo of your baby. It is a good idea to lay your baby on his / her back on a plain white sheet. This will help to ensure that the baby’s head is supported and will give you the best chance of satisfying the passport photo requirements.
Another good idea involves covering a car seat with a plain white sheet. Place the child into the car seat and then take the passport photo.
The passport photo must be printed in color on photo quality paper. It must be precisely 2 inches by 2 inches.
The best way to ensure that you get an acceptable passport photo is to have a passport photo specialist take the baby’s passport photo for you. At Rush Passport™ our passport photo professionals can take a professional passport photo of your child that is certain to be accepted by the US Dept of State.
If you need passport photos or other passport services such as an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. Yahoo! Answers specializes in having regular people ask questions in the hopes that other regular people will be able to answer them. Some of the questions are silly and others are serious. A recent visit to the site uncovered several questions regarding passports. Among the questions regarding passports involved a woman getting married this year and wanted to know if she can travel using her married name although her maiden name in on her passport. Another person wondered if a driver’s permit is an acceptable form of proof to get a passport. Yet another person wanted to know the process for getting a child passport in India.
The passport process can be confusing. There are many questions that can come up regarding passport regulations and passport usage.
Another person wants to know if it is possible to change a passport before it expires. An individual who recently lost a lot of weight is concerned that he doesn’t look like the person in his passport photo and wonders if he will be required to get a new passport in order to travel without being detained. Many other questions arise about changing a surname on a passport, adding passport pages, taking passport photos, passport renewal and a slew of other passport based inquiries. If you have any passport questions, we recommend you speak with a passport specialist. Our passport agents can help answer your questions and also help you get a same day passport.
If you need an expedited passport, emergency passport, same day passport, US Passport book, US Passport Card, passport photos or other passport services, be sure to contact Rush Passport™. In a previous Rush Passport blog entry it was stated that the government shutdown was averted and that “Passport Day in the USA” went off without a hitch. However, that statement is only half correct. The government shutdown was in fact averted, but as it turns out, “Passport Day in the USA” was canceled. It had been scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2011. The passport event was intended to offer passport applicants a Saturday in which they could apply for passports.
The bad news is that “Passport Day in the USA” was cancelled. The good news is that Rush Passport™ is always open on Saturdays to assist you with your passport needs. Rush Passport™ offers passport services Monday – Saturday at their New York City passport office.
There is no official word on whether or not “Passport Day in the USA” will be rescheduled, but in the meantime feel free to visit Rush Passport™ for all of your passport needs.
