Want to see 100 Celebrity Passport Photos? Apparently you are not the only one… An employee of the U.S. State Department’s passport agency in North Carolina pleaded guilty to improperly viewing passport applications and passport photos of over 100 actors, musicians and athletes. As a result, a federal judge sentenced her to a year of probation. She viewed the confidential passport files between January 2003 and September 2006. While the names of the celebrities were not released, one can only speculate as to whose passports were among the ones compromised. A google search for celebrities from North Carolina pulled up a disappointing list, unless you are a fan of American Idol… Clay Aiken and Fantasia Barrino are both from North Carolina. In actuality, several of the search results are from the field of music. The list includes : Tori Amos (singer and pianist), George Clinton (funk musician), John Coltrane (jazz musician), Charlie Daniels (“Devil Went Down to Georgia”), Rick Dees (annoying radio DJ), Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Roberta Flack (“Killing Me Softly”), Ben Folds (musician), Ben E. King (“Stand By Me”), Thelonious Monk (legendary jazz pianist), Petey Pablo (rapper), Randy Travis (country music singer), and Luthor Vandross (R&B singer).
And in the world of sports, she must’ve ‘had a ball’ (pun intended) peeking at Dale Earnhart Jr.’s and Howard Cosell’s passport applications.
When asked if she had a chance to take it all back, she replied “Seeing Andy Griffith’s passport photo was so worth it!” (Just kidding…)
