Emergency US passportDo you have a passport emergency?  Do you need to obtain a passport as soon as possible?  If you are considering traveling overseas, but don’t have a passport yet, there is still time to get a passport.  You can get passport within 24 hours and be on your way overseas in a snap!  If need to get a US passport quickly, Rush Passport™ can help!  Whether you have an expired passport, lost passport, or if you are applying for a first time US passport, Rush Passport™ can make your trips come true.

The passport application process can seem like a daunting task for passport applicants who are applying for a first time passport.  But, at Rush Passport™, we can make it easy to get a US passport.

The first step in getting a passport is to complete the passport application.  You can get the passport application by clicking here: New US Passport Application

It is essential to remember to sign the passport application once it is submitted in person.

Another thing that you will need is two passport photos.  The passport photos must be in accordance with the passport guidelines.  Passport photos need to present the subject framed with full face, frontal view, and open eyes.

The passport photo needs to feature full head from top of head to bottom of the chin.  The face should be centered inside of the passport photo.  The subject should be photographed against a plain white background with no distracting shadows on subject’s face.  The person should display a natural expression to ensure that the passport photos will be accepted.  The passport photos will then be submitted at the passport agency along with the passport application.

Rush Passport™ , passport expeditors, accepts US passport applications at our New York City passport agency.  Be sure to have your 2 passport photos, your unsigned passport application, proof of U.S. citizenship, valid identification, and the accompanying passport fees.  If you do not have your passport photos, don’t worry – we can take the passport photos at our passport expediting office.

Currently, the US State Department is processing passports from between 4-6 weeks,  However, if you need to travel within the next two weeks, that’s not good enough.  Rush Passport™ can help.  At Rush Passport™ we can help you get your passport in the same day.  Our passport expediting service is the quickest and most reliable method when you need to get your US passport in a hurry.

You may apply for a US passport booklet or a US passport card.  It is also possible to apply for both the US passport booklet and the US passport card simultaneously.  It is important to understand that while a US passport card is less expensive than a US passport booklet, it is not as widely accepted as a US passport booklet.

According to the US State Department, a US passport card is valid only for entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land border crossings or sea ports of entry.  A US passport booklet is more widely accepted all over the world for all ports of entry including airports.

US passports are a privilege of being a US citizen.  However that doesn’t mean that it is your right to get a passport on the same day.  Unlike ‘bigfoot’ and the ‘lochness monster’, same day passport do actually exist.

Passport security

Just how secure is the US Passport?

Was your passport lost or stolen?  Is your passport expired?  Do you have a trip to go on today, tomorrow or within the next two weeks?  If so, then you may be eligible for a same day passport.  In order to qualify for a same day passport, you have to be able to prove that you need an emergency passport.

An airline ticket overseas scheduled within the next 2 weeks is proof enough to qualify you for a same day passport.  Emergency passport status may also be granted in the event of a death of a family member.  A sick relative overseas may also be reason enough to get a same day passport.

If you are in need of an emergency passport, contact Rush Passport™, Official Expeditors of Passports registered to do business with the US Department of State and foreign consulates.

Fake US PassportUS passports are not hard to come by if you are a US citizen.  However people who attempt to obtain fake US passports better think twice.  The US Department of State has made it a top priority to catch people attempting to use fraudulent US passport.  During a two-day passport sting operation at the Calexico port of entry, twelve people were arrested for using fraudulently obtained or altered U.S. passports or visas during a two-day operation at the Calexico port of entry recently.

A US passport does a lot more than allow you to cross the border.  A US passport enables people to live in America, enables individuals to have access to certain benefits and it allows people to cross the border at will.

The passport sting operation known as “Operation Linebacker,” took place February 1st and 2nd with the cooperation of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California. The passport operation landed five valid U.S. passports and seven fraudulent passports.  The passport imposters could face up to ten years in prison.

Customs and Border Protection officers deal with passport fraud on a daily basis.  Thousands of fraudulent US passports are confiscated each year.

Most fraudulent US passports are lost or stolen and then sold on the black market.  US passports or visas that has been reported stolen or lost should send a red flag to passport officials.  Confiscating passports at the border prevents the passport imposter from using the valid US passport to obtain other vital documents such as birth certificates and drivers licenses.

US Passport Holders Should Be Aware of the Latest Travel Warnings

Monday, February 7th, 2011

US passport holders should always check the US Department of State website to find out about the latest Travel Alerts and Travel Warnings.

US passport to EgyptTravel Alerts are issued as a precaution to US passport holders for short-term events that they think you should know about when planning travel to a particular country.  Some examples of travel alerts that have been issued to US passport holders in the past include a contested election, times that may feature demonstrations or disturbances, health alerts / outbreaks or elevated risk of terrorist attacks.   Travel alerts are cancelled when these short term events are over and US passport holders may resume normal travel.

Travel warnings are issues to US passport holders as a strong message to avoid traveling to a particular country at all.  Reasons why US passport holders should be very concerned include an unstable government, war, serious ongoing crime or violence, or terrorist attacks.   Some travel warnings may be in effect for years.

There is currently a travel warning in place for Egypt.  US passport holders are advised not to travel to Egypt at this time.  The U.S. Department of State also ordered the departure of all non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members from Egypt.

Babe Ruth Celebrity Passport

People are obsessed with celebrities.  In a previous Rush Passport™ passport blog entry it was reported that a passport employee was even hit with felony charges for accessing confidential celebrity passports.

However, you can see some of the world’s most famous celebrity passport applications here at Rush Passport™’s celebrity passport blog.  Can you guess whose passport application states that he is going to Havana, Cuba for the purpose of “baseball playing”?  It’s not Fidel Castro’s application – but here’s a hint – ever heard of the Sultan of Swat?  Give up?  You’ll have to check Rush Passport™’s passport blog over this next week to find out.  At Rush Passport™’s passport blog, we will be giving you access to 6 of the most famous celebrities of the past 100 years – and don’t worry – there won’t be any felony charges filed against you.

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, to access celebrity passport applications, you don’t even need a publicist’s approval or a big payout… this information is all free.  All you have to do is ask the State Department.  Passport applications list such details as birth and marriage histories, travel plans, autographs, and some of them even include passport photos.

While I did say that this juicy celebrity passport database is all free – I didn’t say that it would be quick.  Unlike the passport expediting process – that can take as little as 6 hours at Rush Passport™, the celebrity passport application requests took approximately a year and a half to process.

For some reason, the last time we checked, Elvis Presley’s passport application was off limits.  There was no formal explanation from the State Department.

Another celebrity passport application states that a woman was taking the Queen Mary to Europe on “business.”  Her husband is listed as Joseph Paul DiMaggio.  I guess that’s enough of hint to figure out whom that celebrity passport application belongs to.

In addition to finding out some great facts about our favorite celebrities, the celebrity passport applications of the past asked for some additional information that is not on today’s passport application.  For example, in 1920 passport applicants were asked to list the size of their mouths, and the shape of their chins and foreheads.  Passport applications only cost $2 back then and passports were only valid for 2 years.

It is also important to note that passports were not required for US citizens (except for a brief time during the Civil War) until 1941.

Today passports are required to go to Mexico and Canada whereas a driver’s license used to be enough.  Passports are also valid for 10 years.  Today’s passports feature biometric passport chips that contain important passport holder data.

Check back at Rush Passport™‘s passport blog to see which celebrity passport applications we will be posting.
