Get a US Passport Before the Summer: Rush Passport NYC

Monday, April 30th, 2012

passport nycAccording to travel experts, the summer is the most popular season for family travel.  More families use their passports during the summer than any other time of year.  Summer vacations must be planned in advance to get the best reservations available.  The same is true for getting a passport.  Waiting for the last minute to get your passport can cause major problems.  It is a good idea to get your passport well before you are scheduled for travel.  However, getting a passport early is not always an option.  If you are unable to get your passport early, then don’t worry – you can still get an expedited passport.  Believe it or not, you can even get an expedited passport on the same day that you apply.

There are circumstances under which you would qualify for an emergency passport.  One such case where you would be able to get an expedited passport is if you already have airline tickets overseas.  This means that you would qualify for an expedited passport.

It is important to know that everyone in the traveling party including infants need passports in order to travel abroad.   When it comes to passports for children it must be known that all US citizens including infants & children must have a valid passport in order to travel internationally by air.  If you are traveling by land or sea to Canada or Mexico from the United States, then a passport card is another option.  However, travel experts advise that all people should have a passport booklet rather than passport card just in case of an emergency that requires reentry to the US by air.

It is also a good idea for existing passport holders to check their passport expiration date.  Many people think that their passports are good forever, but in reality an adult passport is valid for 10 years.  Child passport are valid for 5 years.

Should You Keep Your Passport in a Safety Deposit Box? Rush Passport NYC

Saturday, April 28th, 2012

Secure US PassportDo you think its a good idea to keep your passport in a safety deposit box?  It surely will be safe, but it is not a good idea.  A New Jersey man recently found out the hard way why its not a good idea to keep your passport in a safety deposit box.  The man needed to use his US passport to travel to India to see his dying mother.  However, the only identity proof that he had was his US passport that was actually stored in the safety deposit box. The New Jersey Wells Fargo bank did not allow the man access to the safety deposit box because he didn’t have proper identification.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, better known as the FDIC recommends that customers do not keep passports in their safe deposit boxes.  They also advise that you should never keep anything inside safe deposit boxes that you may need in case of an emergency.

Even if you have proper identification other than your US passport, you still should not keep your passport in the safe deposit box.  There are hours that the bank may be closed, not to mention days, weekends and holidays.  However, it is a good idea to keep a copy of your passport in your safe deposit box.

The man was ultimately allowed to gain access to the box, but by the time he was able to get his passport, his mother had already passed away and he missed the funeral.

As a side note, it is important to understand that, unlike bank deposits, safe deposit boxes are not insured by the FDIC.

New Passport System in Dubai Aimed at Speeding Up Passport Lines: Rush Passport NYC

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

Passport technology is always improving.  New passport readers at the airport in Dubai have been installed in an attempt to speed up lines at passport check-in.

passport renewalThe new passport system is actually equipped with retinal scan that captures facial recognition in 12 to 14 seconds.

Dubai is the 4th busiest airport in the world for international travelers.  The new passport technology may expand to other airports if things go well.

The passport system matches passenger biometrics and passport information against existing watch lists.  This measure is designed to detect potential passport issues.  The aspect that is so impressive is that the passport check in completed in less than 15 seconds per passenger.

Some feel that the new passport technology is great, while critics question the level of accuracy and standard of security.

According to a spokesperson, this move is a step toward “the ultimate goal of making Dubai International the world’s best airport.”

If this passport technology is proven to work, it can be expected that other airports may want to adopt the system as well.

To try out the new passport system, you will need to get a passport, if you don’t have one already.   Next, all you have to do is purchase an airline ticket to Dubai.  While we can’t help you purchase the ticket to Dubai, we can help you get a passport.

How to Get a Second Passport: Rush Passport NY

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

passportInterested in dual citizenship and getting a second passport?  It may be easier than you think depending on what country you have your sights set on.

There are several ways to obtain a second citizenship.  Most of them cost big bucks, however, for some there is a less expensive route.  If you happen to come from a particular country’s bloodline, you may be in luck.

There are certain nations throughout the world that observe what’s known as ‘jus sanguinis’, or right of blood.  This means that a person’s citizenship is determined by lineage instead of birthplace. There are some countries that even extend the right of citizenship to grandchildren of nationals.  This means that if you have a grandparent from one of the countries listed below, you may be entitled to citizenship too.

Countried that observe ’jus sanguinis’ include:

1) Poland. If you have Polish ancestors, you may be eligible to obtain a Polish passport.

2) Italy.  Italy also recognizes citizenship to descendants of Italian nationals that go back two generations.

3) Ireland. Ireland also confers citizenship to descendants of Irish nationals.

4) India. Indian ancestors can go back as far as three generations.

Get Your US Passport in Time for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London: Rush Passport

Sunday, April 22nd, 2012

get a passportAre you planning to go the 2012 Summer Olympics this year in London, England?  Do you have a passport?  If you needed a passport, would you get one just to see the Olympics?  If not, what if your child was competing in the Olympics and you still didn’t have a passport?  Would you get a passport then?

Women’s wrestler Stephany Lee is headed for the 2012 Olympics in London and she has got her passport, but her father doesn’t have a passport.  Lee, a Honolulu native,  stated that her dad Stuart doesn’t have a passport.  He said that he was waiting until Stephany clinched a spot on the US Women’s team before he committed to getting a passport.  Now that Lee has beaten Ali Bernard and has earned a position on the Olympic team, her father will keep his promise and get a passport.

Getting a passport isn’t difficult and relatively speaking it’s not that expensive either considering that an adult US passport is valid for 10 years.  At any rate, this is one father who will be proud to get his passport.

If you still don’t have your passport and you want to travel to London for this summer’s Olympic games, there is still time to get your passport in time to make the trip.  In fact, Rush Passport™ can help you get an expedited passport as soon as possible.  Rush Passport™ can even get your passport for you on the same day that you apply.

Zimmerman Surrenders Passport in Trayvon Martin Case: Rush Passport NYC

Friday, April 20th, 2012

When a person is arrested for a crime and then released pending a trial, sometimes the court will ask the accused to surrender their passport.  By surrendering a passport to the court, the person is trying to let the court know that he/she is not a flight risk.  Without a passport it will be very difficult to leave the country.  Not that it isn’t possible, but it probably isn’t easy.

The latest in the Trayvon Martin Tragedy is that George Zimmerman has surrendered his passport to a Florida court during a bail hearing.  Zimmerman handed in his passport as he awaits trial over the shooting death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman turned in his US passport in hopes that he would be released pending trial on a charge of second-degree murder.  By handing in his passport, Zimmerman wants the court to know that he would not flee the country if he would be released.

On February 26, 2012, Zimmerman, 28, shot and killed Martin, 17, in what Zimmerman has said was self-defense after a confrontation in a community in Sanford, Florida.

Without knowing all of the details, some feel that Zimmerman was justified and shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense.  Others feel that Zimmerman should be found guilty for the murder of Martin.

Passport Legislation to Change in the Future: Rush Passport NYC

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

passport-renewalPrior to 1941, the US passport was nothing like what it is today.  There are some pieces of passport legislation from the early days that are somewhat obscure.  Such is the case with the US Passport Act of 1926 that came about when the idea of passports was circulating around the world – no pun intended!

Later added into US Code Title 22, the US Passport Act of 1926 was originally put into effect so that US citizens could use passports for travel abroad.

Several years ago, the law was changed to give the Secretary of State the authority to revoke a passport to any US citizen that is convicted of engaging in immoral acts with minors overseas.

Although there has only been one instance of the exclusion of a US citizen from travel abroad due to this type of conviction, some people feel that a new law is on the floor right now that could give the Secretary of State the right to revoke or deny a passport to any US citizen due to ‘seriously delinquent tax debt.’

Some argue that the Secretary of State should not be able to revoke the passports of pedophiles or those who don’t pay their taxes.  Others feel that pedophiles and tax evaders should not be able to travel outside of the country.

Whatever side you agree with, passport legislation has certainly come a long way since the US Passport Act of 1926 and there are bound to be more changes in the future.

Get a US Passport Today! Rush Passport

Monday, April 16th, 2012

Getting a US passport shouldn’t be so difficult.  Getting an Indian passport shouldn’t be so hard either.  Don’t tell that to Varva Purushottam Patel.  Patel was living in the United States for the past 8 years until his luck finally ran out.  Upon leaving the US with his valid US passport, he arrived in New Delhi and was arrested at the airport.  It turns out that Patel used a fake New Delhi passport to travel to the US and was arrested 8 years later.

passportPatel, was living in New Jersey in the United States and he became ill.  He arrived at the New Delhi airport due to a medical emergency.  He is suffering from kidney ailment and wanted to return to his homeland.

It turns out that in 2004, Patel went to the United States using someone else’s passport.  It took 8 years to prosecute Patel and it may take even longer because of his illness.

Patel allegedly travelled to the United States with a forged passport that he supposedly got from an agent.   However, Patel asserts that he doesn’t remember the agent’s name.  Passport fraud is a very serious charge and there is an ongoing investigation.

It just goes to show that crime doesn’t pay.  If you would like to get a legal US passport, as long as you are a US citizen it shouldn’t be too much trouble.

Where Can I Get a US Passport in NY? Rush Passport NYC

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

Getting a US passport is a privilege that all US citizens should take advantage of.  While millions of Americans have US passports, there are millions who do not.  US passports allow US citizens to travel out of the country.  There are still millions of Americans who are not interested in getting a US passport.

ny passport officeHowever, some people who are not eligible for US passports and who are not citizens will go to great lengths to get a US passport.  Recently, a woman and her brother-in-law have pleaded not guilty to charges that they gave false information in a US passport application for her son.

The Chinese nationals were arraigned in federal court on charges of passport fraud.  It is a federal crime to knowingly provide false information on a US passport application.

It turns out that the child’s uncle posed as the child’s father in an attempt to get a US passport for his nephew.

It just goes to prove that crime doesn’t pay.  Are you interested in getting a US passport?  Are you confused about the passport application process?  Do you have very little time or patience to deal with the bureaucracy of getting a passport?  If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then it’s time to contact Rush Passport™.

Want a US Passport? Get a US Passport! Passports Made Easy: Rush Passport NYC (212) 643-9305

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Getting a US passport is something that many people all across the globe would love to be able to do.  US citizens can usually get a passport by just applying for one.  However a US passport is more than just a travel document.  A US passport can give someone the right to travel freely to and from the United States without having to apply for a visa each time.  A US passport also does not put a limit on how long your trip to the US must be.  However, there is a situation in Egypt where a US passport is creating problems.

passport-renewalOn May 23rd, Egypt is scheduled to hold its first open presidential election.  One presidential candidate has been forced to drop out because his mother has a US passport.  The issue is that according to a new Egyptian law, any presidential candidate whose parents or grandparents held foreign citizenship will be disqualified.

As it turns out, Abu Ismail is against Western influence in Egypt and his platform is based on anti-American sentiment.  Nevertheless, Egypt’s electoral committee claims that it has proof that Ismail’s late mother had obtained US citizenship.  They also claim that his sister is married to an American and that his mother spent extended visits to her daughter in California.

If you ask Ismail if his mother obtained a US passport, he denies it.  He claims that the allegations are a plot conspired to remove him from the election.

The mother’s alleged US passport has not been produced as of yet.  It will be interesting to see how this turns out.
