US Passport Fraud Found in Chicago: Rush Passport NYC

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

When you think of street gangs, certain things come to mind.  Robberies, weapons and drug trafficking are commonplace.  However members of a Chicago street gang have been charged with passport fraud.

According to the US Department of Justice, members of the Belizean Bloods street gang have been indicted on charges of passport fraud.  Passport fraud is a problem that is seen all over the world.  At one time or another, most countries across the world have been affected by passport fraud.  The passport is a document that is constantly being upgraded to combat passport fraud.

Passport fraud is potentially dangerous because people who should not be able to travel between countries gain access.  Aside from allowing people who should not be allowed access into a particular country, passport fraud also enables individuals to illegally obtain other forms of identification.

US passports are among the world’s most secure passports.  However, that doesn’t mean that it is impossible to obtain a fraudulent US passport.  It is important that law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with the US Dept of State to combat passport fraud.

passport renewalFake US passports can create problems in many ways.  These fraudulent passports put the nation’s security at risk.  While the US passport is one of the most secure passports in the world, no country’s passport is 100% secure.  A couple was recently arrested by Delhi police after they had gone to apply for visas at the US embassy.  Both the man and the woman had two passports each.  According to the passport act, this is illegal.

As it turns out, the embassy discovered that in the past the couple had visited the UK and violated visa rules.  They were caught and then they were deported to India.  Once they returned to India, it seems that each of them illegal obtained a second passport.   Records also show that the man attempted to obtain a third passport under a fictitious name.

When the couple applied for a visa at the US embassy, it was discovered that they each had two passports.   Police have since recovered the passports and the pair has been booked.

Getting a US Passport Can Be Easy: Rush Passport NYC

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011

passport-renewalGetting a US passport is easy if you are a US citizen.  However, obtaining a passport is not as easy for those who are not US citizens.  A woman, who happens to be a US citizen and holder of a US passport has been arrested by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers after trying to smuggle a 10-month old Mexican national infant into the United States.

The woman came in contact with CBP officers on Monday, November 14, 2011 when she reportedly presented a US passport card for herself at a border stop between the US and Mexico.  She also presented a US passport for her 16-year-old daughter.  She did not provide passports for the 3 year old girl and 10 month old infant that she claimed were her niece and nephew.  However, she did provide State of Texas birth certificates for the two children.

After further inspection, it was discovered that not only was the infant was not related to the woman, but that the infant was a Mexican national with no valid documentation to enter or reside in the United States.

The woman was jailed, her 16 year old daughter and three year old niece were returned to an adult family member.  As for the infant, his biological parents were contacted and they arrived to claim their baby and returned back to Mexico.

Passport News: Will Taiwan Be Included in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP)? : Rush Passport NYC

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

It seems likely that Taiwan will be the latest country to be included in the US Visa Waiver Program (VWP).  The new addition to the visa-waiver program is likely to be included by December 2011.

Unidentified senior U.S. government sources have been very positive according to Taiwan Foreign Minister Timothy Yang.  Yang is confident that Taiwan will be listed in its Visa Waiver program before 2012.

After being put in the candidate list, Taiwan passport holders are expected to be officially granted visa-waiver privilege by the United States next year, he said.

Yang, stated that in an attempt to be considered for the VWP, Taiwan has been systematically meeting the VWP’s requirements.  Some of VWP guidelines include issuing biometric passports and the mandating an in-person passport application for first-time passport applicants.

Taiwan is also working on agreements regarding the exchange of information on stolen or counterfeit passports.  Taiwan and the US are discussing sharing information regarding terrorism and the collaboration between the countries on combating major crimes caused by passport fraud.

If Taiwan is accepted into the VWP candidate list by the US government, then the next step will include a delegation of US Department of Homeland Security officials visiting the country and making a determination as to whether or not their procedures meet US standards.

Once the inspection report is complete, it will be up to the US Secretary of Homeland Security to inform Congress whether or not Taiwan is recommended to be included in the VWP.

Congress may then hold a hearing to review the findings, but it may not veto the Homeland Security’s decision.

It is a good idea to closely watch this developing story as a decision can be made as early as next month.

Child Passport: Minor Passport: Rush Passport, NYC

Sunday, November 6th, 2011

Child PassportWhen it comes to getting a passport, it really isn’t as complicated as it seems.  However, if you want to make sure that everything is done properly, contact Rush Passport™ Official US Passport Expeditors, serving Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Westchester County, Nassau County & Suffolk County, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

When it comes to getting a passport for a child, many questions come up.  The most commonly asked question is the age that a child is considered an adult.  People ages 16 years and older require an adult passport, while those under 16 years of age require a child passport.  Another common passport question involves a child being too young to sign his or her own passport.   If this is the case, the mother or father should print the child’s name, but sign their own name.  (The parent should also write the word (mother) or (father) in parenthesis so that the US Dept of State officials are aware of who signed the passport.

Another common child passport question: Is it necessary for both parents or legal guardians to give consent for a child passport?  As of February 1, 2008, the law requires that US passport applications for minors require both parents’ or legal guardians’ consent.  There are some circumstances in which this can be modified, such as if both parents are not around, or if there is a custody battle.  In additon, the Child’s Passport Issuance Alert Program (CPIAP) notifies parents of passport applications made on behalf of minor children.
