Passport Stories: Guess Which Soccer Player Take His Passport to Bed…

Passport Safe

Some people sleep with blankets, others sleep with teddy bears, Carlos Vela sleeps with his passport!

Mexican soccer player, Carlos Vela has revealed that he actually takes his passport with him to bed!  Why would he do such a thing?   In April 2010, Vela lost his passport and as a result, he missed the biggest game of his career – the Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final game in Barcelona.

Not only did he miss the biggest game of his life, but his team lost the game.

To ensure that nothing like that happens again, Vela admits that he keeps his passport with him at all times and even sleeps with it to prevent him from losing it and missing next month’s World Cup finals in South Africa.  Vela was reprimanded and forced to train on his own after missing the Champions League game in Barcelona and vows to never let that happen again.

Vela believes that Mexico has a good chance to compete for the World Cup and if he can keep his passport safe, Mexico may just get the chance to play against the top teams.

Vela will get a chance to redeem himself this June at the World Cup in South Africa, as long as he continues to keep his passport in a safe place!
